Position Summary

The Senior Program Manager, Oncology and Multispecialty Strategy Tech Strategy leads the execution and continuous improvement of New Solutions Enablement across The US Oncology Network. The role manages multiple related initiatives within a complex program, coordinating intake, technology, cybersecurity, data governance, procurement, vendor management, legal, and IT service management reviews to ensure requests align with business priorities, McKesson standards, and expected outcomes.

Working with the Governance Lead, Sr. Product Program Manager, requesting practices, business leaders, and technology partners, this role defines and refines scope, facilitates cross-team planning, manages interdependencies, resolves resource and workflow gaps, and maintains clear accountability for milestones, decisions, and next actions. The Senior Program Manager provides indirect leadership across participating teams and operates with autonomy in a matrixed environment.

The successful candidate combines program management discipline, business and technical awareness, strong stakeholder influence, and data-driven decision-making. This role turns a complex, multi-system process into a transparent and trusted program while ensuring that speed does not compromise cybersecurity, data, vendor, legal, technology, or service management requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Program Planning and Strategic Alignment

  • Lead scope definition and refinement with business, practice, and technical stakeholders, ensuring New Solutions Enablement activities align with business goals, technology strategy, and approved governance requirements.

  • Develop and maintain an integrated program plan, milestones, decision points, resource needs, and dependencies across multiple concurrent solution requests and review workstreams.

  • Facilitate complex cross-initiative planning discussions, identify prerequisites, and coordinate solutions to resource or scheduling gaps across participating teams.

  • Define program success criteria with sponsors and stakeholders, connecting operational targets to transparency, compliance, cycle time, stakeholder experience, and business value.

Program Execution and Cross-Functional Delivery

  • Lead day-to-day execution across intake, assessment, review, approval, cataloging, and closure, ensuring each request has a clear owner, current status, next action, and target milestone.

  • Manage complex dependencies and handoffs across Cybersecurity, Data Governance, Procurement, Vendor Management, Legal, IT Service Management, architecture, technology teams, and requesting practices.

  • Lead scope and priority trade-off discussions, drive agreement on changes, and ensure decisions are documented, approved, and communicated across affected stakeholders.

  • Provide indirect leadership to cross-functional contributors, remove roadblocks, resolve conflicts, and escalate high-impact issues with recommended actions.

Governance, Risk, and Compliance

  • Ensure each request is evaluated against applicable McKesson technology, cybersecurity, data governance, vendor due diligence, legal, architecture, and IT service management standards before advancement.

  • Independently identify, assess, prioritize, and manage risks and issues across multiple requests; maintain risk and issue records, execute mitigation plans, and communicate significant exposures to program leadership.

  • Establish clear escalation paths and ensure exceptions are surfaced for decision rather than bypassed or resolved outside approved governance processes.

  • Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready program records across Asana and related systems of record, including status, ownership, decisions, conditions, approvals, and supporting documentation.

Stakeholder Management and Communication

  • Establish a strong cross-functional stakeholder network and serve as a trusted point of coordination for practices, business leaders, review teams, vendors, and technology partners.

  • Maintain feedback loops with key stakeholders to identify program adjustments that improve business value, predictability, and requester experience.

  • Develop and execute a stakeholder communication plan that provides clear status, risks, decisions, impacts, and next steps for different audiences.

  • Partner with senior stakeholders to resolve conflicts, negotiate commitments, manage expectations, and sustain alignment without direct authority.

Performance Reporting and Business Value

  • Develop and maintain dashboards, scorecards, and executive reporting for request volume, aging, cycle time, SLA performance, risk, dependencies, bottlenecks, and decision status.

  • Prepare the monthly New Solution Requests executive summary for business unit CIO approval, translating program data into actionable insights, decisions, and intervention priorities.

  • Track and report program milestones and performance, assess stakeholder feedback, and identify opportunities to improve value delivered across initiatives.

  • Use advanced analytics, automation, and AI-assisted insights where appropriate to improve forecasting, identify delivery risks, reduce manual follow-up, and strengthen prioritization.

Continuous Improvement and Change Adoption

  • Lead improvements to intake forms, questionnaires, review workflows, handoffs, reporting, and the approved solution catalog to reduce redundancy and improve data quality and throughput.

  • Facilitate lessons learned and retrospective reviews, perform root cause analysis on delays or recurring gaps, and ensure corrective actions have owners, timelines, and measurable outcomes.

  • Develop and refine delivery standards, procedures, templates, and tools that increase consistency across the program.

  • Support adoption of new ways of working by aligning stakeholders on the program vision, benefits, roles, and expected behaviors.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, information technology, healthcare administration, healthcare informatics, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

  • Typically 7+ years of progressive experience in project or program management, technology delivery, governance operations, portfolio management, business operations, or a related discipline.

  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple medium-to-large initiatives within a complex project or program where delivery outcomes carry meaningful business, operational, regulatory, or technology impact.

  • Proven ability to manage integrated plans, milestones, scope, dependencies, risks, issues, resources, governance activities, and executive reporting with substantial autonomy.

  • Experience leading cross-functional work and influencing business and technology stakeholders without direct authority.

  • Experience applying enterprise delivery methodologies, governance standards, workflow tools, and performance reporting practices in a matrixed organization.

  • Healthcare, health technology, regulated-industry, technology governance, vendor intake, risk management, cybersecurity, data governance, procurement, or legal review experience is preferred.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Program management: applies advanced project and program management practices to plan and manage multiple related initiatives, balance scope and priorities, and deliver outcomes within defined quality, time, and compliance expectations.

  • Planning and prioritization: creates integrated plans, identifies prerequisites, resolves resource gaps, and maintains disciplined execution across concurrent workstreams.

  • Risk and dependency management: independently identifies complex and interrelated risks, develops mitigation actions, manages cross-team dependencies, and proactively escalates significant issues with recommendations.

  • Stakeholder management and influence: builds long-term working relationships, adapts communication to the audience, resolves conflict, and drives consensus and accountability across functional groups.

  • Business and technical awareness: understands business drivers and applies sufficient technology, cybersecurity, data, vendor, legal, and service management awareness to engage the right experts and inform delivery decisions.

  • Executive communication: produces concise, decision-ready reporting and communicates program status, risks, trade-offs, and recommendations clearly to senior stakeholders.

  • Data-driven problem solving: uses performance data, root cause analysis, and practical judgment to identify bottlenecks, evaluate options, and implement durable improvements.

  • Change leadership and continuous improvement: promotes new delivery practices, challenges inefficient ways of working constructively, and translates lessons learned into measurable process improvements.

  • Digital fluency: advanced proficiency with Asana, Smartsheet, Excel, Power BI, or comparable workflow, project, portfolio, and reporting tools, including dashboards and automated reporting.

  • Judgment and discretion: handles vendor, contracting, regulated, and confidential information appropriately and applies standards consistently in an evolving environment.

Measures of Success

  • New Solution requests maintain accurate owners, status, milestones, risks, decisions, and next actions across Asana and related systems of record.

  • Requests progress within agreed service-level expectations, with material risks, dependencies, resource gaps, and blockers identified early and actively managed.

  • Advancing requests complete all required McKesson reviews, and exceptions are escalated through approved decision paths rather than bypassed.

  • Program dashboards and monthly leadership reporting are published on schedule, require minimal rework, and provide actionable visibility into performance and portfolio health.

  • Cross-functional stakeholders understand priorities, commitments, decisions, and next steps, and provide timely feedback on program outcomes.

  • Continuous improvement actions measurably reduce avoidable delays, manual follow-up, duplicate information requests, and data-quality gaps.

  • The approved solution catalog remains accurate, current, reconciled, and useful for future solution decisions.
