About the Opportunity 

As Senior Manager Melbourne, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across a diverse portfolio of services across Greater Melbourne.

You will translate organisational priorities into strong service, people and community outcomes, ensuring services respond to local needs and the changing mental health and community services landscape. Experience in the mental health, community services, health or broader human services sector will support your ability to effectively lead this portfolio. 

Reporting to the General Manager, you will be a highly visible and connected leader, building trusted relationships across your portfolio and representing Wellways with key stakeholders, community partners and local networks. You will foster collaboration and shared purpose across a geographically dispersed group of services and teams. 

This is an opportunity to lead with purpose across one of Australia’s most diverse communities. You will bring Wellways’ strategy to life through strong local leadership, shaping service excellence and participant outcomes, strengthening partnerships and identifying opportunities for service development, innovation and growth. 

You will champion lived and living experience, co-production and participant voice, ensuring the people we support are central to service design, decision-making and continuous improvement. You will provide values-led leadership through change and transformation, supporting leaders and teams to navigate complexity and deliver meaningful outcomes. 

With stewardship of financial performance, governance, risk and resources, you will support sustainable, high-quality services and foster a culture of accountability, wellbeing, inclusion, innovation and continuous improvement. 

You can be based at one of Wellways’ Melbourne service locations, with regular travel across the portfolio and a strong presence within services and communities essential. Your visibility and connection will help you support leaders and maintain a strong understanding of participants, families, carers and local community needs. 

About You 

You are an experienced, values-led leader who combines strategic thinking with strong operational focus. You bring a proven track record leading complex services, programs or portfolios, developing high-performing leaders and teams, and building trusted partnerships that deliver positive outcomes. 

You are confident leading a geographically dispersed metropolitan portfolio, creating connection and shared purpose across diverse communities and services while balancing local needs with organisational priorities. You understand the importance of visible, connected leadership and building a strong, supported workforce. 

You bring experience translating strategy into action, driving service improvement and identifying opportunities for growth, innovation and business development. You are comfortable navigating change and responding to emerging community and sector needs to strengthen service responses and impact. 

You build effective partnerships with government, community and sector stakeholders and use strong communication, influence and collaboration to achieve shared outcomes. You are confident representing Wellways externally and strengthening our contribution across Melbourne. 

Your leadership approach is grounded in participant-centred practice, inclusion, cultural safety and the meaningful integration of lived and living experience. You encourage diverse perspectives to shape decision-making, service delivery and improvement

You bring strong financial and operational stewardship, with experience managing budgets, resources, performance, governance and risk. You are committed to developing leaders and creating an environment where people have the clarity, capability and support to perform at their best.
