About the Role

Spectrum Resource Group (SRG) is seeking a Senior Environmental Professional to support environmental planning, permitting, compliance, construction monitoring, erosion and sediment control (ESC), and stakeholder coordination for projects across Ontario and eastern Canada. SRG delivers environmental, vegetation management, forestry, reclamation, and resource management services to infrastructure, utility, transportation, mining, energy, and land development clients across Canada.

Role Overview

The successful candidate will provide senior technical leadership, manage multidisciplinary projects, support business development, mentor field and technical staff, and ensure work is delivered in accordance with federal, provincial, municipal, and client requirements. This role is ideal for an experienced environmental professional with strong business development, consulting, regulatory approvals, construction oversight, environmental monitoring, and ESC implementation experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental planning, permitting, compliance, and construction-phase monitoring for infrastructure, utility, transportation, renewable energy, mining, and land development projects.
  • Conduct or oversee wetland, stream, aquatic habitat, and fisheries habitat assessments.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, staffing, technical quality, deliverables, and client expectations.
  • Prepare and review environmental reports, permit applications, management plans, compliance records, inspection reports, and monitoring documentation.
  • Develop and oversee Environmental Management Plans, Environmental Protection Plans, corrective actions, mitigation measures, and ESC programs.
  • Support approvals related to watercourses, wetlands, species at risk, fish habitat, conservation authorities, municipal requirements, and applicable federal and provincial legislation.
  • Act as a senior liaison with clients, regulators, Indigenous communities, contractors, and project stakeholders while mentoring environmental staff and field teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science, fisheries and aquatic sciences, environmental engineering, ecology, biology, natural resources management, or a related biological sciences discipline.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive environmental consulting, environmental management, construction monitoring, or regulatory experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading environmental compliance programs for large infrastructure, construction, or land development projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario environmental legislation, permitting processes, conservation authority requirements, OPSD/OPSS standards, municipal ESC requirements, and construction-phase environmental protection practices.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, supervise field staff, manage client relationships, and communicate effectively with regulators and stakeholders.
  • Ability to multitask in a dynamic work environment and contribute positively to a small, team-oriented group.
     

Professional Designations and Certifications

Preferred designations or certifications include P.Ag., CAN-CISEC, CESA, RP.Bio, PBio, EP, or CPESC. CPESC, RP.Bio, and PBio are considered strong assets.
