The newly formed ‘Advanced NPD’ team sits at the heart of Dyson’s product development machine, pioneering new concepts in NPD (New Product Development) as well as maturing concepts/technologies from upstream teams into more mature product offerings.

Detailed Job Scope (Roles & Responsibilities)
Support innovation and concept generation by bringing fresh ideas and using problem-solving skills.
Own CAD models help design, build and test concepts.
Understand how to make test plans, and to control variables in testing and present results clearly.
Work as part of a team on projects and tasks, contributing to sprint meetings, following actions, and supporting progress against project timelines and targets.
Contribute to setting technical requirements (such as pressure, power, flow, performance) by providing analysis, test results, and technical recommendations.
Help select and specify components by evaluating options and providing input on performance, cost, and manufacturability.
Collaborate closely with other engineers, upstream technology teams, internal teams (electronics, design, software), and suppliers under guidance to support project delivery and technology transfer.
Adapt quickly to changing project requirements by reprioritising own work and supporting the team to meet objectives.
Suggest improvements by reviewing past solutions, proposing ideas, and being open to discussing alternatives.
Qualifications
A first degree in mechanical, mechatronics, electrical, electronic, or software engineering.
2-3 years’ experience in a product or technical development environment
Curious problem solver and innovator – Clear examples of innovation or creativity at work or home projects.
Multi-disciplinary capability – Ideally experienced/ interested in multiple disciplines. CAD, coding, electronics, systems, and mechatronics.
Engineering principle – Knowledge/ understanding of airflow, acoustics, electronic.
Disruptive and observant – Demonstrate ability to critique design and suggests effective improvements.
Customer-centric mindset – awareness of what customers require and balances technical requirements to maximise product value, while minimising cost and manufacturing complexity.
Good Communicator – Able to present ideas and selling concepts withing the technical and non-technical teams.
Clear, logical thinker – Shows attention to detail, understanding of engineering fundamentals, and applies critical analysis.
