Behind the scenes, but ahead of the curve: help us develop the next-generation public service media organization.

Technology & Infrastructure (T&I) is the backbone and the future-forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. Our purpose is to constantly innovate to evolve and maintain the Corporation’s technology and infrastructure. We are the people that make stuff work. We make connections between media content, systems, people and places. We are the space in between.

A place with purpose. CBC/Radio-Canada has always been a highly regarded pioneer of media technology — not just in Canada but around the world. Today, we are transforming ourselves into a modern and agile public service media organization. Technology is the driving force, and we are the team making it happen.

This is a hybrid position with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.

Your Mission

CBC/Radio-Canada is always looking to consolidate diverse, multi-skilled teams to deliver distinctive, intelligent, entertaining and innovative programming in English, French and eight Indigenous languages. Chances are, you grew up watching and listening to Canada’s public broadcaster. Here’s your chance to be part of the family.

CBC/Radio Canada’s Corporate Services IT Application Portfolio Management team is currently seeking a creative, qualified and talented developer. Based in Montreal as part of a cross-functional team, you will focus primarily on integrating and developing solutions for our partners in the Corporate Services business unit.

As a Senior Developer, you will:

  • Help conceive and document technical analyses for software application development and integration, primarily web-based.
  • Help integrate, optimize and maintain cloud solutions, as well as develop, test and maintain the related APIs.
  • Share responsibility with other team members for hands-on development and coding; unit, integration and functional testing; and deployment support in line with best practices and established standards.
  • Share responsibility with the rest of the team for application support and maintenance and responding to system issues and bugs.
  • Contribute to solution design and architecture, collaborating with the team and lead developers.
  • Ensure effective implementation and integration of applications and appropriate documentation.
  • Conduct integration testing of separately developed components.

What You Bring

  • Certificate or bachelor’s degree in computer science with specialization in software development (or equivalent).
  • Five to seven years’ experience in an application development role and a proven track record of web development, including both front-end and back-end portions.
  • Familiarity with the Agile Scrum development methodology.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft development environments, continuous integration environments (Jenkins, etc.) and source code archiving tools (Git, etc.).
  • Relevant experience with the following web technology and techniques: SPA development, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, TypeScript and Bootstrap/AngularJS components.
  • Relevant experience with the .NET platform and C# language.
  • Experience with the Azure platform: Function Apps, Data Factory, Event Grid, Data Storage, etc.
  • Experience developing web services with the API Rest architecture (OpenAPI/Swagger an asset).
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB (Oracle and SQL Server an asset).
  • Knowledge of cloud design patterns (CQRS, Circuit Breaker, Anti-Corruption Layer, Pub/Sub, Saga, etc.) an asset.
  • Experience with test automation (xUnit, Cypress, etc.) an asset.
  • Knowledge of Python an asset.

Related Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Solid command of spoken and written French and English.
  • Proven teamwork skills.
  • Analytical mind.
  • Ability to easily incorporate new concepts and work within tight deadlines.
  • Ability to stay current with the latest technologies, trends and development approaches and architectures while maintaining commitments to projects and support requirements.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

As part of our recruitment process, candidates who advance to the next

step will be asked to complete a background check. This includes:

  • A mandatory Criminal record check.

  • Other background checks may be conducted based on the operational requirements of the position.
