We encourage applications from members of historically underrepresented racial/ethnic groups, women, individuals with disabilities, veterans, LGBTQIA2S+ community members, and others to help us achieve our vision of a diverse and inclusive community.

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced nursing leader who brings strong clinical expertise, a commitment to equity and person-centered services, and the ability to develop high-performing teams. The ideal candidate excels at building collaborative partnerships, driving quality improvement, ensuring regulatory compliance, and making sound operational decisions that support exceptional care and meaningful community inclusion.

About the Program

The Stabilization and Crisis Unit (SACU), within the Office of Developmental Disabilities Services, provides 24-hour residential care and supervision for approximately 100 individuals across 17 homes in six counties. SACU serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, often with co-occurring mental health conditions, whose support needs exceed those available through other community-based residential programs.

Through individualized support plans, SACU provides health and medical care, psychological services, emotional and behavioral supports, life skills training, educational supports, and recreational opportunities. These services help individuals maintain their quality of life, achieve their highest possible level of independence, build meaningful community connections, and transition safely back to their home communities.

Summary of Duties

As the SACU Nurse Manager, you will provide leadership and oversight for nursing services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered care that promotes health, dignity, and quality of life for individuals served by SACU. In this role, you will:

  • Lead the development, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of nursing systems and practices to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and quality nursing services.

  • Provide strategic oversight of nursing operations, including workforce planning, resource allocation, and fiscal management to meet current and future service needs.

  • Ensure nursing care and services comply with all applicable federal and state laws, administrative rules, licensing requirements, and professional standards of practice, including the Oregon Nurse Practice Act and applicable Oregon Administrative Rules (OARs).

  • Oversee the provision of equitable, appropriate, and person-centered nursing services, identifying service gaps, evaluating individual and programmatic needs, and establishing priorities to support quality outcomes across residential programs.

  • Serve as a trusted clinical advisor to SACU leadership, including the Director, Deputy Director, and House Managers, providing expert consultation, establishing goals and objectives, evaluating service quality, and supporting licensing and regulatory readiness.

  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and other communications, and represent SACU in partnerships with professional organizations, interagency committees, and stakeholder groups.

  • Direct and enhance onboarding, orientation, and ongoing professional development programs for nursing staff.

  • Develop and implement recruitment, retention, and workforce development strategies to attract, support, and retain a highly skilled nursing workforce.
