Join Waythrough, one of the UK’s leading mental health and social support charities, and make a lasting impact every day.

We support over 125,000 people each year through our 200 services, empowering individuals to overcome challenges around mental health, housing and substance use.

About the service:

Oak house is a mental health crisis recovery house. We offer support for those in crisis from a range of 3-7 days. We are a five bedroom facility, with 24 hour staffing, 7 days a week. Day staff work in a shift pattern of earlies (8 am - 4pm), days (09:30am - 5:30pm) and lates (1:30 - 9:30pm). Waking night staff cover a ten hour period.

The people we support are central to everything we do. Each person who uses our services is a unique individual and they all deserve to be treated as such. As such, the responsibilities may vary from day to day.

About the Role

As a Crisis Recovery Worker at Oak House, you’ll support people experiencing mental health challenges to work towards their individual recovery goals, build confidence and develop the practical and emotional skills they need to become more independent.

Working as part of a supportive team, you’ll provide person-centred support, manage a caseload and help ensure the safe and effective day-to-day running of the service.

You’ll build positive relationships with the people we support and work alongside community mental health teams, other professionals and partner agencies to help individuals achieve meaningful and sustainable outcomes.

What You’ll Do

  • Support individuals to improve their mental and physical wellbeing and work towards their recovery goals.
  • Manage a caseload and develop person-centred support plans.
  • Help people build independent living skills and access community services.
  • Complete and review risk assessments and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential case notes and records.
  • Work closely with mental health teams, carers and other professionals to provide joined-up support.
  • Contribute to the safe and effective day-to-day running of the service.

To Succeed in This Role, You’ll Need

  • Strong communication and listening skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
  • A compassionate and non-judgemental approach to supporting people with complex needs.
  • The ability to motivate and support people towards greater independence.
  • Good organisation, IT and record-keeping skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
  • Flexibility to work across the required shift pattern.

Experience supporting vulnerable people, individuals with complex needs or people experiencing mental health challenges would be beneficial, but relevant transferable experience will also be considered.

At Waythrough, we believe in providing comprehensive training to ensure that our team members have the skills and knowledge necessary to fulfil their roles.

So, if you have a passion for making a positive impact on people's lives but lack some of the necessary skills, we encourage you to apply.
