At ABB Marine & Ports, you'll have the opportunity to lead innovation in a rapidly evolving industry. As a Senior R&D Engineer, you'll drive the development of advanced marine solutions, collaborate with experts across disciplines, and help deliver technologies that shape the future of sustainable shipping.
You will be mainly accountable for:
Maintaining recognized expertise in a specific area by integrating the latest developments in technologies, tools, and methodologies into your work.
Finding new ways of solving problems by following your ideas, creating hypotheses, and defining ways to validate them.
Documenting work results (like findings, designs, or software), allowing others to maintain and improve them.
Understanding and initiating IP generation in your area of specialization and participating in the project IP strategy development.
Qualifications for the role
You have at least 5 years of experience in industrial automation and control systems, working as an R&D Project Manager, Automation Engineer, Control Systems Engineer, Technical Lead or in a similar role.
You have solid experience with automation platforms and technologies such as PLC, SCADA, HMI, embedded systems, system integration and industrial communication networks.
You hold a degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
You have a good understanding of control system architecture, industrial communication protocols, cybersecurity principles and the validation of complex technical solutions.
You have experience of project management, requirements management, risk management, product development processes and agile ways of working. Experience with DevOps practices and software lifecycle management is considered an advantage.
You are passionate about technology and innovation, with a proven ability to lead projects, collaborate across functions and manage stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle.
You communicate fluently in English, both written and spoken. Swedish language skills are considered an advantage.
