 Role Overview

As a QA Manager, you will play a key role in overseeing the delivery of high-quality QA services across multiple PlayStation Studios titles. You will build strong relationships with development studios and internal stakeholders, ensuring QA services meet project requirements, agreed service levels and business expectations.

You will be responsible for resource planning, budget oversight and operational efficiency while supporting the performance, development and growth of QA teams. Working closely with QA leadership, Service Owners and Production teams, you will anticipate studio needs, manage delivery risks and drive continuous improvements across QA operations.

This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with world-class development teams and contribute to the successful delivery of PlayStation Studios titles.

Work Ratio & Service Ownership

  • Manage a portfolio of approximately 2–6 titles, depending on project requirements and operational needs, sometimes with the support of an Assistant Manager (AM).
  • QA Managers who also undertake Service Owner responsibilities may have a reduced title commitment to accommodate their additional responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • QA Service Delivery: Oversee the delivery of high-quality QA testing services across assigned PlayStation Studios titles, ensuring alignment with project requirements, timelines and agreed service levels.
  • Studio Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with PlayStation Studios development teams and internal stakeholders, understanding their testing needs, expectations and operational priorities.
  • Service Engagement & Planning: Develop and execute service engagement strategies for assigned studios and partners, coordinating testing requirements, schedules, communication and service improvements.
  • Resource & Budget Management: Collaborate with QA leadership and Production teams to develop resource plans, oversee budgets, monitor operational requirements and ensure effective allocation of testing resources.
  • Operational Efficiency: Identify opportunities to improve testing efficiency, resource utilisation and service delivery processes, implementing improvements that support departmental and studio objectives.
  • People Leadership & Development: Lead, coach and mentor QA team members, supporting performance management, regular feedback, career development and succession planning.
  • Service Level Management: Manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Operational Level Agreements (OLAs), monitoring service performance and addressing delivery risks or concerns.
  • Stakeholder Communication & Reporting: Facilitate regular studio engagement meetings, providing clear updates on testing progress, risks, budgets, schedules, resource requirements and operational performance.
  • Risk & Escalation Management: Act as a key escalation point for assigned studios throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), proactively identifying and addressing testing challenges before and after launch.
  • Continuous Improvement & Collaboration: Partner with QA leadership, Service Owners and cross-functional teams to improve QA methodologies, promote knowledge sharing and support future service capabilities, tools and technologies.

Skills & Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a management role, demonstrating proven leadership capabilities, team management and people development.
  • Strong understanding of QA testing methodologies, frameworks, processes and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) practices.
  • Experience managing QA service delivery, including testing operations, project requirements and stakeholder expectations.
  • Proven experience in resource planning, budget oversight and operational performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach and develop teams, including performance management and staff development.
  • Strong stakeholder relationship management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with development teams, leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Experience identifying operational challenges, managing delivery risks and driving process improvements.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects.
  • Experience working within the interactive media, gaming or video game development industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with global or cross-cultural teams in a matrix organisational structure.
  • Familiarity with Testing as a Service (TaaS), IT service management or service delivery operations.
  • Knowledge of ITIL best practices and continuous service improvement principles.
