This is a seconded position, meaning the selected candidate will be employed by ITAC but work full-time on assignment with one of our clients. While day-to-day responsibilities will be managed on-site with the client, ITAC provides ongoing support, resources, and benefits as your employer. This position is full time contract work anticipated to last through the end of 2026, and requires the employee to be on the client's Hopewell, VA site. Overview
As a Project Engineer, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams and support projects from planning through completion. You will play a key role in coordinating technical and construction activities, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards. This position requires strong technical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, as well as a solid understanding of engineering principles, construction processes, and industry best practices.
Responsibilities
- Support the execution of multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all project phases are completed within established scope, budget, and schedule requirements.
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, and internal teams to understand project requirements and develop effective engineering and construction solutions.
- Assist in the preparation of project proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and technical documentation for client review and approval.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and project stakeholders to ensure project objectives and deliverables are achieved.
- Monitor project budgets, schedules, and performance metrics, identifying potential risks and supporting the implementation of corrective actions.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among project team members, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor project progress, verify quality standards, and ensure compliance with safety requirements and applicable regulations.
- Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, reports, meeting minutes, and progress updates for clients, management, and project stakeholders.
- Assist with construction administration activities, including reviewing submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project closeout documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
- Proven engineering and project management experience in the construction industry, preferably in the Process & Industrial sector
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, codes, and regulations
- Exceptional leadership and decision-making skills with the ability to solve complex problems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Proficient in project management software and tools
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and work under time constraints
- Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, costs, and profitability
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required
