Product Manager

How will you make an impact?

As a Product Manager, you will be responsible for developing and growing a portfolio of laboratory consumables and equipment, with a strong focus on understanding customer needs, market dynamics and competitive positioning.

You will act as the commercial and technical owner of your assigned product portfolio, working closely with external suppliers and internal stakeholders to develop and execute strategies that deliver revenue growth, profitability and market share objectives.

The role requires a combination of scientific knowledge, commercial acumen, analytical capability and hands-on execution. You will analyze product and market performance, identify growth opportunities, develop initiatives and work cross-functionally to translate those opportunities into measurable business results.

You will also serve as a key product resource for our sales teams and customers, including delivering product presentations, technical discussions and training.

What will you do?

  • Own and manage a portfolio of laboratory consumables and equipment, including responsibility for portfolio performance, positioning and growth.
  • Develop and execute annual product and portfolio business plans to achieve revenue, margin and market share objectives.
  • Analyze sales performance, product mix, pricing, margin, customer segments and portfolio trends to identify opportunities and areas requiring corrective action.
  • Conduct competitive mapping and market analysis, including competitor products, positioning, pricing, channel activities and emerging market trends.
  • Translate market intelligence and data into clear commercial strategies and growth initiatives, and drive their execution with relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify portfolio gaps, new product opportunities and emerging customer needs and work with suppliers and internal teams to develop appropriate solutions.
  • Build strong relationships with external suppliers/manufacturers, including business reviews, product launches, promotions, pricing, forecasting, technical matters and joint growth initiatives.
  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Regulatory, Demand Planning, Purchasing, Customer Service and other internal stakeholders to ensure effective commercial execution and customer support.
  • Partner with sales teams to develop opportunities, support strategic customer engagements and accelerate adoption of priority products.
  • Develop sales enablement tools and conduct product presentations, demonstrations and training for sales teams, distributors and end customers.
  • Provide technical and application support as the product subject-matter resource and coordinate with suppliers or technical specialists where deeper expertise is required.
  • Support product launches and go-to-market activities, including product positioning, value propositions, pricing, promotions and sales enablement.
  • Provide product forecasts and work with Demand Planning and Purchasing to balance product availability, inventory levels and business requirements.
  • Monitor product lifecycle performance and recommend actions including portfolio expansion, rationalization, replacement or discontinuation.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant regulatory and compliance requirements and collaborate with Regulatory and other functions to support product commercialization.
  • Develop relationships with key customers, opinion leaders and reference sites to strengthen market understanding and product adoption.
  • Regularly track the effectiveness of commercial initiatives and recommend adjustments based on performance and market feedback.

How will you get here?

Education

  • Bachelor's or Postgraduate Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline strongly preferred.
  • Candidates from other scientific disciplines may be considered where they have relevant laboratory product and market experience.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience, particularly within a chemistry or analytical laboratory environment, is advantageous.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in product management, product marketing, commercial management, laboratory product sales or a related role.
  • Product management experience within laboratory consumables and/or scientific equipment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing relationships with external suppliers, manufacturers or principals is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience using market and business analysis to develop and execute growth strategies or commercial initiatives.
  • Experience working with laboratory customers across research, pharmaceutical, biotech, industrial, government and/or academic segments is advantageous.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong commercial and analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret sales, margin, pricing, market and competitive data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Ability to conduct market assessment, competitive analysis, product positioning and portfolio analysis.
  • Strong business acumen with an understanding of revenue, gross margin, pricing, forecasting and inventory considerations.
  • Scientific and technical aptitude with the ability to understand laboratory workflows and communicate product value effectively to technical audiences.
  • Strong presentation and training skills, with confidence presenting to sales teams, distributors and end customers.
  • Strong stakeholder-management skills and the ability to influence and coordinate across functions without direct authority.
  • Effective communication and relationship-management skills when working with external suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple products, projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with business intelligence, CRM and other commercial data tools.
