A Day in the Life
As a Principal Logistics Analytics Analyst on the Transportation & Logistics Partner Management Team, you will drive supplier performance, governance, and continuous improvement across Medtronic's global transportation network. You will partner with logistics providers and internal stakeholders to optimize cost, service, and risk outcomes through data-driven insights, supplier reviews, benchmarking, and strategic initiatives. This role requires strong analytical, communication, and relationship-management skills in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
A DAY IN THE LIFE
You will:
•Strategic Carrier Management
o Manage relationships with preferred carriers, assess alignment with business needs and logistics strategies, and partner with Regional Transportation teams to improve performance.
o Review logistics financial results, support forecasting, and contribute to global, multimodal RFP strategies and processes.
•Project Management & Optimization
o Lead transportation cost optimization and process-improvement projects with minimal supervision, applying Lean methodologies and balancing cost, service, inventory, and risk objectives.
o Align stakeholders on supply chain strategies and policies, provide actionable recommendations, and develop best-practice procedures and playbooks for global teams.
•Operational Network Relationship Management
o Build relationships with Operational Network leaders, manufacturing sites, and distribution center operations to strengthen collaboration and execution.
o Drive freight-policy conformance, carrier utilization, cost savings, and cross-functional process improvements.
•RFP Support
o Support global and regional multimodal RFPs by coordinating data collection, validating requirements, preparing bid materials, and aligning scope, timelines, and evaluation criteria with cross-functional stakeholders.
o Develop baselines, benchmarks, and scenario analyses; support carrier communications, proposal evaluations, negotiations, award recommendations, implementation readiness, and savings tracking.
•Deliver Supplier Relationship Management Leadership
o Lead and advance the Deliver Supplier Relationship Management program across Transportation, Distribution, and Trade, with emphasis on Medtronic’s largest strategic logistics partners.
o Own global SRM governance, including meeting cadence, tier boards, relationship health, supplier segmentation, knowledge management, and executive reviews.
o Partner across Deliver, Indirect Supply Management, regional and enterprise teams, and suppliers to identify value opportunities, translate data into insights, and influence outcomes.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
•Self-starter and able to establish relationships and work with remote teams of professionals and able to work independently to achieve objectives.
•Knowledge and expertise regarding multiple modes of transportation.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills, PC, and analytical skills (MS Suite).
•Ability to work collaboratively with cross department teams.
•Discretion with confidential or sensitive information.
•Demonstrates initiative, creativity, organizational ability and follow through.
•Self-motivated, aptitude for learning, passionate about generating/implementing new ideas.
•Capable of multitasking and working with changing priorities and deadlines.
•Travel 10%.
Qualifications - External
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
- Bachelors degree required
- •Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Transportation Management, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Transportation Management
Nice to Have
•Previous roles in Global or Regional Transportation or Logistics Supply Chain
•Experience implementing or supporting a TMS (Transportation Management System)
•Excel power user (pivots, lookups, basic formulas, etc)
•Data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Spotfire
•Experience with imperfect data and data quality enhancements
•Previous experience in operational optimization or supply chain project management
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.
