Position Summary:

This position is for a postdoctoral fellow to aggregate and synthesize sediment dataset(s), conduct volumetric assessments, collect and analyze field samples, develop network-scale sediment transport models, and write and publish peer-reviewed manuscripts based on research findings.

Essential Job Duties:

• Aggregate and synthesize hydrologic, geomorphic, and sediment datasets from Reclamation and other agencies.
• Conduct volumetric assessments of bank erosion and channel sedimentation using aggradation/degradation surveys and USGS gage data.
• Collect and analyze field samples for geochemical and radionuclide sediment fingerprinting.
• Develop and apply network sediment transport models to assess spatiotemporal patterns of erosion and deposition.
• Write and publish peer-reviewed manuscripts and reports.

Conditions of Employment:

Supervision:

This position will not directly supervise.

Minimum Qualifications:

• PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Geomorphology, or related discipline.
• Clear research interest in hydrology, geomorphology, or ecology.
• Proficiency in oral and written English communication.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with sediment fingerprinting techniques.
• Familiarity with network sediment transport models.
• Experience with lidar, remote sensing, and streamflow data.
• Research experience in arid or semi-arid river systems, particular in the US Southwest.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams, especially across institutions.
• Demonstrated ability to write and publish original research.
• Interest in working across disciplinary boundaries, including hydrology, geomorphology, and ecology.
