Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll combine practical workplace experience with mandatory off-the-job training. You’ll develop the skills, knowledge and practical experience needed to thrive. You'll develop the skills and experience needed to install, maintain and repair plumbing and heating systems - from everyday domestic work through to emerging technologies such as heat pumps, solar hot water systems, smart heating controls and full heating system installations. You’ll learn how to keep systems running safely and at their best, bringing older systems back to life and making smart upgrades that boost performance. With the support of experienced engineers, you’ll build the confidence, capability, and know-how to make a real difference from day one.

This is a role where you'll make a real impact. You'll be out in the community, meeting customers, solving problems, and keeping homes safe and warm. No two days are the same - from fixing faults and maintaining plumbing and heating systems, to installing new technologies and helping customers run their systems more efficiently and reduce energy use. Here's what we’re looking for: 

• You must be based in, or close to Cork

• Minimum of five passes at Leaving Certificate level, including Mathematics

• A valid full driving licence permitting the holder to drive in Ireland

• Ability to travel between customer and work locations as required

• Genuine interest in learning the plumbing trade and developing a long-term technical career

• Comfortable carrying out practical work and using hand and power tools

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and learn from experienced engineers.
• A willingness to take responsibility for your learning and successfully complete all workplace and off-the-job training and assessments.
• Flexibility to attend mandatory off-the-job training at an assigned education or training location anywhere in Ireland. This may require travel and periods away from home

Here’s what's in it for you:

• The opportunity to complete a nationally recognised Plumbing apprenticeship and become a qualified plumber.

• Starting salary of €15,531 rising to €23,049 at 1 year, €34,573 at 2 years, & €41,487 after 3 years of your apprenticeship, with other add ons on top.

• Structured workplace learning and support from experienced engineers throughout your apprenticeship.
• Practical experience across plumbing, heating systems and newer low-carbon technologies.
• Opportunities to build your knowledge of heat pumps, smart heating controls and other technologies that support Ireland’s transition towards net zero.

As you near completion, you may have the opportunity to apply for a permanent Heating Engineer or Service Engineer role. Successful candidates will receive further training to support progression towards becoming a qualified Gas Engineer, with opportunities to develop additional skills in heat pumps and other low-carbon technologies that support our net zero ambitions.
