Job Description
This role is responsible for leading the MFO MEMS Engineering team supporting Barrier, Drill, Attach and Plating/Mandrel WorkCentre’s. The role provides engineering leadership for manufacturing process stability, equipment capability, yield improvement, quality performance, cost reduction, and operational excellence. The role partners with the FCI organization to enable end-to-end delivery of quality, ensuring upstream MEMS performance supports downstream product quality, reliability, and business goals.


Responsibilities

  • Leads and governs MEMS engineering activities across Barrier, Drill, Attach and Plating/Mandrel WorkCentre’s, ensuring process controls, equipment readiness, and manufacturing standards are effectively implemented and sustained.
  • Drives engineering ownership for WorkCentre performance, including yield, scrap, productivity, machine availability, process capability, quality excursions, and cost performance.
  • Leads structured problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives to address chronic manufacturing issues, reduce variation, improve process robustness, and strengthen operational discipline.
  • Establishes and enforces engineering governance, process change control, documentation discipline, and standard work to ensure compliance with internal manufacturing, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Oversees engineering validation for process changes, equipment improvements, material changes, tooling changes, and new capability deployment within Barrier, Drill, Attach and Plating/Mandrel operations.
  • Provides direct and ongoing leadership for a team of engineers and technical contributors responsible for manufacturing engineering support, process improvement, equipment troubleshooting, and project execution.
  • Leads a team of technical specialists supporting the broader MEMS BDAP and Mandrel scope, including Barrier, Drill, Attach, and Plating/Mandrel, MEMS maintenance, equipment support, and
  • refresh of obsolescence items, parts, tools, and equipment required to sustain manufacturing capability and operational continuity.
  • Owns and drives the MEMS PME operating model for Barrier, Drill, Attach and Plating/Mandrel WorkCentre’s, where PME leads coordinate daily WorkCentre meetings with Production, Maintenance, Equipment, and Engineering teams to review performance, align priorities, escalate issues, and drive closure of actions across individual MEMS WorkCentre’s.
  • Partners with the Operations Manager to provide accountability, direction, and governance through the PME leads, ensuring production and engineering metrics are actively managed, reviewed, and improved through disciplined daily execution and cross-functional follow-up.
  • Manages headcount, deliverables, schedules, priorities, and costs for multiple engineering projects, ensuring resources are properly allocated and risks are identified, assessed, and mitigated.
  • Partners with operations, quality, planning, maintenance, NPI, supply chain, suppliers, and outsourced partners to align expectations on deliverables, product quality, schedules, cost, capacity, and manufacturability.
  • Collaborates with the FCI organization to ensure MFO MEMS engineering actions support end-to-end quality delivery, effective issue containment, root cause resolution, and prevention of downstream quality impact.
  • Ensures effective communication and collaboration between engineering team members, manufacturing teams, cross-functional stakeholders, and external support resources.
  • Identifies opportunities for yield improvement, productivity improvement, cycle time reduction, process simplification, cost savings, material usage optimization, and automation in alignment with business tactics and strategy.
  • Contributes to productivity initiatives and collaborates closely with Operations to identify, prioritize, and deliver engineering-driven improvements that enhance output, efficiency, cost performance, and WorkCentre execution.
  • Performs talent management responsibilities including recruitment, performance management, coaching and career development.
  • Develops engineering and technical specialist capability through coaching, skills development, succession planning, knowledge transfer, and structured career growth to build a strong and sustainable MEMS engineering organization.
  • Ensures that proper knowledge and career development tools are in place to support ongoing team member and process development.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Delivers committed yield targets across Barrier, Drill, Attach and Plating/Mandrel WorkCentre’s through effective engineering controls, structured problem solving, and sustained process improvements. • Drives quality performance include reduction of defects, excursions, rework, scrap, customer quality issues, and repeat failure modes across assigned engineering WorkCentre’s.
  • Achieves productivity and output commitments by improving equipment capability, process stability, cycle time, labor efficiency, and WorkCentre execution discipline for Barrier, Drill, and Attach.
  • Improves equipment uptime, availability, and maintenance effectiveness through disciplined preventive maintenance, rapid troubleshooting, and timely recovery of equipment issues.
  • Delivers cost reduction and material usage improvement through scrap reduction, consumable optimization, tool life improvement, automation, and process efficiency initiatives.
  • Ensures PME daily management effectiveness, including timely escalation, action closure, metric review, and sustained follow-up through PME leads and WorkCentre teams.
  • Executes obsolescence management plans for critical equipment, parts, tools, and support items within the broader MEMS BDAP and Mandrel technical specialist scope to reduce manufacturing risk and sustain long-term equipment capability.
  • Strengthens safety, compliance, and audit readiness by ensuring engineering changes, process documentation, maintenance practices, and WorkCentre controls meet internal requirements.


Education & Experience Recommended

  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
  • Typically has 7-10 years of job-related experience or 5-7 years of management experience, preferably in MEMS manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, process engineering, equipment engineering, automation, or related high-volume manufacturing environments.
