Business Overview

Rakuten Mobile launched its full-scale service in April 2020 as the fourth MNO (Mobile Network Operator) in Japan—the first to be approved in 13 years—with the mission to provide high-quality mobile communication services at fair prices. We have been growing rapidly, surpassing 8.5 million MNO subscriptions as of February 2025.
We also launched full-scale services for corporate clients in January 2023. As a core business driving the future growth of the Rakuten Group, we are making large-scale investments and drawing significant attention both domestically and internationally.

Department Overview

This department is responsible for providing mobile services to corporate clients. Your role will involve constructing operational flows for new services, improving existing operations, and managing the vendors who execute these operations. As we strive to become the No. 1 carrier, you will join us as a core member to drive further business expansion.

The Operation Design Group handles a wide range of tasks, including operational improvement, external system development, and new service design. It is a rewarding role where you will design operations to ensure efficiency and quality while strictly adhering to legal regulations and internal rules. You will gain extensive business knowledge, including service delivery processes, payment cycles, systems, legal affairs, accounting, and proposal preparation.

As the number of Rakuten Mobile subscriptions increases, securing contracts for our core corporate mobile lines and solutions has become increasingly important. We are looking to strengthen this team to improve the quality of operations supporting our corporate business and to promote greater operational efficiency.

Position Details

The Operation Design Group focuses on three primary objectives:

- Operational Improvement: Adapting to changes in laws and regulations, and automating/systemizing manual tasks.

- External System Development: Planning and operating sales management and billing systems for our solution services.

- New Service Design: Designing workflows and systems for new services and implementing them within relevant departments.

While we generally work on-site to facilitate face-to-face communication, you may work from home up to one day per week. Flexible working hours are also available, allowing you to balance your work with your lifestyle. Aside from certain internal meetings and communication with the Tech team, the primary language for operations is Japanese.

Work Environment

The team consists of 10 members across a wide age range: five in their 20s, three in their 30s, one in their 40s, and one in their 50s. It is a highly collaborative group where members leverage their specific expertise and knowledge to work on projects together. While many members joined as new graduates, we also have mid-career hires, creating a diverse professional background within the team.

Mandatory Qualifications:

- Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint):

- Excel: Data aggregation and analysis.

- PowerPoint: Experience in creating meeting materials and proposals.

Desired Qualifications:

- Project Management Skills: Ability to manage projects smoothly by coordinating with multiple vendors and departments. (Experience in progress management and coordination is highly valued.)

- Communication Skills: Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including clients, sales teams, vendors, and engineers. (Experience with remote meeting tools like Teams/Zoom is preferred; English proficiency for communication with the Tech team is a plus.)

- System Understanding & Improvement Skills: Knowledge of system usage and operational improvement. (Experience in system development, operation, or improvement projects is a plus.)

- Data Analysis & Management Skills: Ability to analyze data and create reports to propose improvements. (Experience with Excel/Google Sheets, sales management, or billing management is a plus.)

- Business Process Improvement: Experience in proposing and executing improvements based on on-site feedback. (Experience in workflow improvement or PDCA cycle implementation is a plus.)

- Adaptability to Flexible Work Styles: Ability to work autonomously in a flexible environment. (Experience with flextime or remote work is preferred.)

- Compliance & Legal Knowledge: Experience or knowledge regarding legal regulations such as the Telecommunications Business Act, Construction Business Act, and internal compliance.

- Accounting Knowledge: Experience in accounting-related tasks such as sales reporting or procurement.

- Automation: Skills to drive efficiency through automation (Experience with RPA or AI development is a plus).
