Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer supports remanufacturing and drivetrain manufacturing activities at the Invenergy Central Machine Shop (ICMS), with a focus on technical problem solving, process support, and continuous improvement.


This role supports initiatives that improve component reliability, manufacturing quality, and repower execution by working closely with shop operations, Quality, EHS, and engineering teams. The position contributes to standardizing processes, resolving technical issues, and improving overall performance of ICMS operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day engineering support for ICMS remanufacturing and drivetrain manufacturing activities.
  • Support teardown reviews and failure analysis of main shaft and drivetrain components, contributing to repair and replacement recommendations.
  • Assist in evaluating wear, damage, and component condition to support engineering decisions and disposition strategies.
  • Support development, maintenance, and improvement of rebuild and assembly procedures, inspection requirements, and quality checkpoints.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and non-conformance investigations and support implementation of corrective actions for component, process, or manufacturing issues.
  • Analyze inspection data, manufacturing reports, and repair outcomes to identify trends and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Work with Quality and operations teams to define and support inspection standards, documentation requirements, and traceability expectations.
  • Assist in identifying gaps in procedures, training, or execution and support development of standardized solutions.
  • Assist in development and validation of component acceptance criteria, tolerances, and fit/function requirements
  • Support vendor performance evaluation through review of quality metrics, inspection data, and repair outcomes.
  • Contribute to development of engineering documentation, including procedures, work instructions, and drawing updates as needed.
  • Support engineering lab activities including CMM usage, measurement analysis, reverse engineering, and basic CAD/drawing support.
  • Provide input to safety and risk evaluations, including fixtures, tooling, and handling processes, in coordination with EHS.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Asset Management, Quality, EHS, vendors, and other engineering groups.
  • Support onboarding of new platforms, manufacturing processes, and repower-related activities at ICMS.
  • Some travel and occasional field support may be required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering, operations engineering, reliability engineering, or related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to support technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and inspection data.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and support projects with moderate guidance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with wind turbine components, drivetrain systems, or remanufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing process tools, quality systems, inspection processes, or quality documentation (pFMEAs, control plans, NCRs).
  • Experience working with CMM equipment or measurement tools.
  • Experience with CAD software and creation or interpretation of engineering drawings.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools and systems (Excel, PowerBI, Python, etc.).
  • Experience working with vendors, suppliers, or third-party manufacturing partners.
  • Understanding of Repower programs, main shaft assemblies, or drivetrain manufacturing processes.

Base Pay

$85,000.00 - $108,000.00 USD Annual

Bonus: 15%

The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
 
In addition to base pay, the total annual compensation package may also include eligibility to participate in our bonus program(s) which are designed to reward individual and company performance. Your recruiter can share more about bonus eligibility for this position during the hiring process.
