You will lead and deliver engaging, evidence-informed teaching in our accredited Master of Speech Pathology programme. You will coordinate subjects, supervise research students, and contribute to a growing programme of impactful speech pathology research. 
You will strengthen your academic career within a supportive, clinically connected department in the heart of Melbourne. 

What you will deliver:  

  • Coordinate and deliver high-quality subjects within the Master of Speech Pathology, ensuring effective organisation, assessment and accreditation compliance. 

  • Design and teach engaging lectures, tutorials, practical classes grounded in current, evidence-informed speech pathology practice. 

  • Supervise graduate and higher degree research students, providing effective mentorship, research guidance and high-quality supervision across project stages. 

  • Contribute to a productive research agenda through publications, presentations, collaborations and competitive funding applications in speech pathology. 

  • Engage with professional, industry and community partners to promote the discipline and develop innovative education and training opportunities. 

You may be a great fit if you:  

  • Hold a PhD in speech pathology , with eligibility for Speech Pathology Australia membership. 

  • Have clinical and teaching experience in aphasia and cognitive-communication disorders 

  • Demonstrate independent teaching and research capability, supported by emerging scholarly outputs such as publications, presentations and grant contributions. 

  • Bring proven experience designing, delivering and assessing high-quality learning across lectures, tutorials, practical classes and online environments. 

  • Maintain clinical relevance in speech pathology, ideally with expertise in adult communication disorders such as aphasia and cognitive-communication. 

  • Contribute effectively to academic administration, including subject coordination, examinations, accreditation documentation and broader course development activities. 

  • Value equity, diversity and inclusion, with openness to engaging diverse communities and supporting varied student cohorts and pathways.

The Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology sits within the Melbourne School of Health Sciences. The team unites clinicians, educators and researchers to deliver accredited, evidence-informed programmes in speech pathology and audiology. 
Together, staff prepare graduates to address complex communication and swallowing needs across diverse populations and service settings. Working in modern Swanston Street facilities, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues, health services and community partners. The department values innovation, collegiality and impact, actively supporting academic growth and contributions to health and wellbeing.
