We are seeking a Junior Report Developer to support a migration initiative moving reporting assets from SAP BusinessObjects (BO) to Qlik.
This role works under the direction of senior report developers to rebuild, test, and document migrated reports, and offers hands-on experience with both legacy and modern business intelligence platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Review existing BusinessObjects reports, including Web Intelligence and Crystal Reports, and document data sources, calculations, and business rules with guidance from senior developers.
- Build and update reports, dashboards, and visualizations in QlikView and/or Qlik Sense based on defined specifications and migration mappings.
- Validate migrated reports against source BusinessObjects output and record matches, discrepancies, and data issues.
- Write and modify SQL queries to extract, compare, and validate data.
- Assist with troubleshooting report errors and data issues, and escalate complex problems to senior developers.
- Update Qlik load scripts and expressions under the direction of senior developers.
- Maintain migration trackers, mapping documents, and records of logic changes and known discrepancies.
- Migrate scheduled jobs, distribution lists, and report connections as assigned.
- Support user acceptance testing, training materials, and knowledge-transfer documentation.
Required Skills and Experience
- Experience in report development, business intelligence, data analysis, or a related role.
- Hands-on experience with at least one business intelligence tool, such as Qlik Sense, QlikView, SAP BusinessObjects, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Working knowledge of SQL for querying and data validation.
- Basic understanding of data modeling, relational databases, and ETL concepts.
- Strong attention to detail when comparing data and testing report output.
- Ability to follow technical specifications and document work clearly.
- Willingness to learn legacy and modern reporting platforms.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Exposure to SAP BusinessObjects, including Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, or universes.
- Exposure to Qlik set analysis, scripting, or data modeling.
- Experience with a business intelligence migration or platform transition project.
- Familiarity with Python or other scripting languages for automation.
- Familiarity with Oracle or SQL Server.
- Qlik Sense Business Analyst or Data Architect certification, or progress toward one.
- Degree or coursework in computer science, information systems, statistics, data analytics, or a related field.
Soft Skills
- Eager to learn and comfortable asking questions to understand unfamiliar code and business rules.
- Methodical and detail-oriented when validating and testing report output.
- Able to take direction and complete assigned tasks independently.
- Clear communicator who reports progress, issues, and discrepancies promptly.
