Our Canadian operation, Canaccord Genuity Corp., is currently seeking an Associate to join our Origination group in Toronto. Associates in this group play a key role in supporting the identification, development and execution of new business opportunities across corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, debt capital markets, and equity capital markets transactions. Working closely with senior bankers, clients, and internal product specialists, the Associate is responsible for conducting financial analysis, developing client presentations, managing deal processes, and contributing to relationship management efforts that drive revenue growth and market expansion. This role requires strong analytical capabilities, exceptional communication skills, commercial acumen, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Completion of a university degree in a business-related discipline
- Minimum of three (3) years of investment banking experience in a similar role – experience in both M&A and corporate finance preferred
- Solid quantitative skills including strong financial modeling skills
- Strong analytical ability and written communication skills
- Resourceful, diligent and strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Responsibilities
- Assist senior bankers in preparing strategic client pitches, marketing materials and relationship plans.
- Build and maintain complex financial models, including discounted cash flows (DCF’s), comparable company analyses, precedent transaction analyses, leveraged buyout models (LBO), and merger and acquisition accretion / dilution analyses.
- Develop valuation materials and transaction recommendations for internal and client presentations.
- Coordinate due diligence activities and data room management.
- Prepare transaction documentation, marketing materials, and management presentations.
- Liaise with clients, legal counsel, accountants, and other advisors throughout the transaction life cycle.
- Track transaction milestones and manage workstreams to ensure successful execution.
- Monitor market trends, industry developments, and capital market activity to identify opportunities for clients.
- Participate in client meetings and contribute to relationship management activities.
Total Rewards
The expected base salary for this role is $125,000 - $135,000 and will be based on the successful candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications. In addition to base salary, Canaccord Genuity offers a competitive total rewards package, which may include:
