Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As a Customer Development Intern at Unilever, you will support the teams responsible for building strong customer partnerships and driving business growth across a variety of channels and customers. Working at the intersection of Sales, Marketing, Shopper Marketing and Category Management, you will help bring commercial plans to life while developing a strong understanding of the FMCG industry and retailer dynamics.

Depending on the team and business priorities, your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting the planning and execution of promotional, activation and commercial initiatives across key customer accounts and channels.
• Analyzing sales, promotional, customer and category performance data to identify trends, opportunities and recommendations.
• Contributing to the development and execution of annual promotional and activation calendars.
• Supporting innovation launches and evaluating their commercial performance and impact.
• Assisting with customer presentations, business reviews and the preparation of commercial reports and analyses.
• Collaborating with Marketing, Shopper Marketing, Category Management, Supply Chain and Customer Development teams to support business priorities.
• Monitoring in-store and online execution of campaigns and activations, helping ensure successful implementation and shopper engagement.
• Supporting account management activities, including stakeholder coordination, project tracking and customer communications.
• Conducting market, customer and competitor analyses to help identify growth opportunities and support commercial decision-making.
• Assisting with operational and administrative activities that contribute to the smooth execution of customer plans and projects.

What You'll Learn

During this internship, you will have the opportunity to:

• Develop a strong understanding of how commercial strategies are translated into customer and shopper execution.
• Gain insight into the relationship between manufacturers, retailers and customers within a leading FMCG organization.
• Build analytical skills by working with sales, promotional, customer and category performance data.
• Learn how promotional campaigns, activations and innovation launches are planned, executed and evaluated.
• Strengthen project management and stakeholder management capabilities by collaborating with both internal and external partners.
• Gain exposure to multiple commercial functions, including Customer Development, Shopper Marketing, Category Management, Marketing and Sales.
• Develop practical business skills in customer management, commercial planning and performance analysis.
• Take ownership of meaningful projects that directly contribute to business growth and customer success.

What we're looking for:

• Available for 5-6 months starting February-March 2027 (minimum 32-40 hours per week)
• Currently enrolled in a (HBO) Dutch university, Bachelor's program (3rd or 4th year) or a Master's program
• Eager to learn, challenge yourself, and take ownership of impactful projects
• Available to work on site 2-3 days a week at our Rotterdam Office
• Fluency in Dutch and English
