JOB PURPOSE

As the Human Resources & EHS Manager for our manufacturing site in Åmål, Sweden, you will lead the local HR agenda end-to-end and coordinate site EHS and sustainability topics in partnership with the Plant Manager, site leadership team, regional EHS, and relevant functional stakeholders. This is a full-on-site role, requiring regular, visible presence at the Åmål site to support leaders, employees, union cooperation, safe operations, environmental responsibility, and day-to-day operational needs. You will translate PHINIA’s global people, safety, and sustainability priorities into practical local actions that support safety, compliance, productivity, employee engagement, and a sustainable workplace culture.

This is a visible, hands-on HR leadership role in an industrial environment, requiring strong business partnership, sound judgement, and confident collaboration with managers, employees, union representatives, and external partners. The role requires a solid understanding of the Swedish labor market model, including cooperation with trade unions, collective agreements, work environment obligations, and fair, transparent people practices.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic HR Leadership

Lead the HR function for the Åmål site, driving the annual HR plan, workforce planning, HR budget, and people metrics aligned with plant priorities including safety, quality, delivery, cost, engagement, and capability building.

Partner with the Plant Manager and leadership team on organizational effectiveness, leadership capability, change management, and continuous improvement, ensuring HR priorities are embedded in day-to-day operations.

Employee Relations and Swedish Labor Market Cooperation

Build constructive relationships with employees, managers, union representatives, and relevant external partners, supporting a collaborative approach consistent with the Swedish labor market model.

Coordinate and support local consultation, information, and negotiation processes with trade unions and employee representatives in line with applicable Swedish legislation, collective agreements, and PHINIA policies.

Provide practical guidance to managers on employment matters, performance, absence management, disciplinary processes, grievances, organizational changes, and respectful workplace expectations.

Compliance, EHS, Sustainability, and Governance

Ensure HR practices are compliant with Swedish employment legislation, applicable collective agreements, internal policies, data privacy requirements, and audit expectations.

Own and coordinate local EHS and sustainability topics in partnership with site leadership, regional EHS, managers, employee representatives, and external providers, ensuring clear responsibilities, timely follow-up, and alignment with PHINIA standards and applicable Swedish requirements.

Support systematic work environment management, risk assessments, incident follow-up, corrective actions, rehabilitation processes, sick leave follow-up, preventive wellbeing initiatives, and cooperation with occupational health providers.

Maintain accurate HR administration, employment documentation, personnel records, and reporting, ensuring confidentiality, fairness, and consistency.

Talent Acquisition and Employer Branding

Lead recruitment and selection for the site using fair, inclusive, and structured processes based on role-related criteria.

Partner with local managers, regional HR, recruitment partners, and schools or community stakeholders to attract and onboard talent for production, technical, and professional roles.

Strengthen PHINIA’s local employer brand in Åmål and the surrounding region by promoting an inclusive culture, development opportunities, and meaningful work in advanced manufacturing.

Compensation, Benefits, and Payroll Interface

Support competitive and compliant compensation and benefits practices in alignment with Swedish market conditions, applicable collective agreements, local policies, and global guidelines.

Oversee HR payroll inputs, time and attendance data, absence information, allowances, and employment changes in partnership with Finance, payroll providers, and managers.

Learning, Capability and Talent Development

Build and coordinate the site training plan, ensuring mandatory training, compliance learning, safety-related training, and skills development for production and professional populations.

Drive performance management, succession planning, leadership development, and talent review processes to support organizational continuity and growth.

Culture, Engagement and Community

Promote a culture of safety, inclusion, integrity, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the site.

Support employee engagement, recognition, wellbeing, and community initiatives that reflect PHINIA’s values and strengthen connection to the local site.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labor Relations, Behavioral Science, Psychology, or a related field.

  • Master’s degree or additional HR/labor law training is an advantage.

  • 5+ years of progressive HR coordination/ supervising role, preferably in a manufacturing, engineering, automotive, or industrial environment.

  • Experience working with Swedish employment legislation, collective agreements, union cooperation, and employee relations matters is strongly preferred.

  • Good understanding of work environment responsibilities, rehabilitation processes, sick leave follow-up, and cooperation with occupational health providers in Sweden.

  • Experience supporting a shift-based or operational workforce is an advantage.

  • Ability and willingness to work full-time onsite at the Åmål manufacturing site are required.

  • Change and Continuous Improvement Mindset: comfortable simplifying processes, using data, and supporting leaders through change.

  • Digital Confidence: proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Workday or similar HRIS systems is an advantage.
