Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change. 



We are looking for volunteers to support staff at our drop in groups across Workington. Our drop in sessions support individuals to improve and manage mental health symptoms, improve social inclusion, self-esteem, confidence and motivation. 

Tasks include:

  • Helping to facilitate, set up and run the session.

  • Reporting any concerns, including safeguarding that may arise in the group.

  • Work closely with the service manager to plan and evaluate sessions.

  • Sharing feedback and suggesting improvements or ideas for future sessions

  • Support the service manager with any tasks linked to the running of the group.

Personal qualities/Skills

  • Confident IT skills – aside from any IT skills required for the role, some of our mandatory training is done online through eLearning modules
  • Professional, honest and committed
  • Non-judgmental towards people with lived experience
  • Good time keeping
  • Able to work as part of a team, on own initiative and to instruction
  • A genuine interest in being part of the mission, vision and promise of Waythrough
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries, adhere to Waythrough policies and media guidelines, engage in supervision, and complete relevant training

  • Induction and access to online and face to face training. Note Cyber Ninjas eLearning, Information Governance eLearning, Equality & Diversity eLearning and Volunteer Induction workshop are mandatory for all volunteers as a minimum with additional training depending on the role

Timing: There is flexibility in the timings of this role, hours would need to be coordinated to fit within the group timetable
