Job Description Summary
The Education Abroad Advisor advises students at all stages of the study abroad cycle, providing detailed information about academics, finances, health and safety and cultural matters. The Education Abroad (EA) advisor helps students identify and plan for study abroad programs that align with their academic, personal and professional objectives. The EA advisor is also responsible for supporting the outreach, administration of programs and assisting in maintaining advising resources.Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience working with students in a university setting in advising, recruitment, marketing, or student services.
Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of living or working in a cross-cultural environment.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Suite products.
Skill in providing high-quality, responsive customer service.
Skill in delivering presentations to various audiences.
Ability to respond to the needs of students.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail while handling high volumes of inquiries, communications, and administrative processes.
Additional Job Details
Preferences:
Experience with TerraDotta or other Education Abroad management software
Proficiency in a foreign language
Knowledge of academic and international programs.
Ability to synthesize, distill, and translate complex information into clear, accessible guidance.
Strong presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to lead individual and group conversations.
Demonstrated ability to navigate ambiguity and complexity, exercise independent judgment, and develop solutions when established processes or predetermined answers are not available.
Sound judgment and discretion in interpreting policies, assessing individual circumstances, making decisions, and determining when to consult or escalate an issue.
Demonstrated planning and organizational skills to establish goal, manage assignments and competing priorities with a high level of attention to detail, follow through to successful completion.
Experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to inform actions, process improvements, or decision-making.
Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively with stakeholders.
Demonstrated commitment to student success and collegial team support, with a service-oriented approach and willingness to contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment.
