Family Medicine Physician – SEARHC

Location: Juneau, AK

Position Type: Full-Time

Join SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC)- a distinguished non-profit health consortium dedicated to providing comprehensive healthcare services to the residents of beautiful Southeast Alaska. We are seeking a compassionate, full‑time Family Medicine Physician to join an established and collegial primary care team at the Vintage Park Campus. This position offers a rewarding blend of full-spectrum Family Medicine, caring for patients of all ages in an outpatient setting, with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Compensation salary: $263,764 -$292,527 based on years of experience, with additional productivity bonus based on wRVUs, and quality incentives.
  • Financial incentives: $35,000 Sign-On Bonus and $25,000 Relocation Assistance with a three-year commitment.

Schedule and Work-Life Balance

  • Workweek: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with telemedicine included.
  • Call Schedule: No call.
  • Generous Time Off: 33 days (264 hours) annually, including holidays, and 10 days (80 hours) of CME.

Practice Details:

  • Clinic facilities: 16 exam spaces with two procedure rooms. One medical assistant per physician, dedicated OB/Primary Care nurse case manager, nurse triage, and nutritionist. Ancillary services include Mammogram, CT, DEXA, Ultrasound including ECHO, X‑ray, laboratory services, and MRI.
  • Patient Volume: 12-17 patients per day in clinic, plus 4 hours of administrative time weekly. EMR and tools include Meditech, Dragon Dictation, and DAX AI assisted documentation.
  • Procedure opportunities: Women’s health, prenatal, vasectomies, colposcopies, circumcisions, wound care, draining abscesses, and cyst removal.
  • Hospital Capabilities: Nearby Bartlett Regional Hospital has 57 inpatient beds with 7 OB rooms, 2 C-Section rooms, and a special care nursery.

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO with active/unrestricted Alaska medical license or ability to obtain license.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine.
  • Unrestricted DEA.
  • Required: BLS.

Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job 

  • Provides comprehensive primary care including but not limited to diagnosis, treatment, minor procedures, coordination of care, referral, preventative care, and health maintenance to a dedicated panel of patients.  

  • Participates fully in shared local urgent/emergent care on-call rotation.  

  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation of services in accordance with SEARHC policy.  

  • Provides optimal patient experience using strong listening and communication skills that build long term patient care relationships. 

  • Actively participates in SEARHC quality patient care initiatives and quality assurance programs. 

  • Actively participates in provider and clinic meetings, and SEARHC medical staff functions. 

Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required 

  • State of Alaska Medical License as an MD or DO. 

  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Internal Medicine-PediatricsIf Board Eligible, at the time of hire, must be Board Certified within 3 years of start date. 

  • Maintains active unrestricted DEA registration. 

  • Maintains active SEARHC medical staff privileges. 

  • BLS required

Knowledge of 

  • Well versed in the principles and practices of primary care 

  • Is aware of standards of care, EMTALA, HIPAA, health care risk management principles, medical ethics, and medical malpractice principles. 

Skills in 

  • Communicating in an open, respectful, helpful, supportive, and collaborative manner with staff and patients. 

 

Ability to 

  • Provide high quality health care services including the performance of medical procedures appropriate to the outpatient and emergency care setting. 

  • Provide clinical leadership, promotes teamwork and collaboration, provides clinical guidance as requested for midlevel providers, and resolves conflict. 

  • Efficiently utilize the electronic medical record and other clinically required technology. 

  • Express ideas clearly through oral and written communication skills, analyze complex situations efficiently and problem solve, and effectively implement clinical program strategies.
