• Define and implement comprehensive Verification & Validation (V&V) strategies, test plans, and frameworks for power-system, protection, control, embedded software, and industrial communication products.
• Review system requirements, communication specifications, use cases, interfaces, and architecture to establish complete test coverage, traceability, and validation criteria.
• Design and execute system-level, integration, communication, functional, regression, interoperability, performance, robustness, and negative testing.
• Develop and maintain Python-based automated test frameworks, communication simulators, protocol test tools, and test infrastructure.
• Plan and execute validation of industrial communication protocols including IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, IEC 60870-5-104 (T104), T103, T101, TCP/IP, Ethernet, and Serial communication.
• Perform communication interoperability and integration testing between IEDs, protection relays, RTUs, SCADA systems, gateways, PLCs, control systems, and substation automation systems.
• Validate communication functions including data exchange, command/control, time synchronization, event reporting, configuration, fault handling, timeout, recovery, redundancy, and performance.
• Develop Python-based tools for protocol message generation, packet analysis, device simulation, communication monitoring, automated validation, and fault injection.
• Analyze communication traces, network packets, relay event records, system logs, and test results to identify communication and system-level issues.
• Troubleshoot complex communication, embedded software, firmware, and system-integration issues and perform structured root-cause analysis.
• Work closely with Power Systems, Protection, Hardware, Firmware, Software, Systems Engineering, and Continuous Engineering teams to resolve defects and improve product reliability.
• Validate Protection & Control systems for generators, transmission lines, transformers, motors, busbars, substations, and digital control applications.
• Test protection schemes including Overcurrent/Earth Fault, Differential, Distance, Generator, Motor, Transformer, and Busbar protection.
• Validate protection relays, IEDs, RTUs, SCADA interfaces, digital control systems, gateways, and embedded software/firmware.
• Apply AI, Generative AI, Machine Learning, and Agentic AI to communication and V&V activities.
• Develop AI Agents that can analyze communication requirements, generate test scenarios, orchestrate approved test workflows, analyze protocol logs, detect anomalies, classify failures, and assist with root-cause analysis.
• Develop Agentic AI-based communication testing solutions capable of interacting with approved testing tools, simulators, protocol analyzers, and V&V infrastructure.
• Apply AI-assisted analysis to IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, T104, TCP/IP, Ethernet, and serial communication logs and traces to accelerate troubleshooting and defect identification.
• Implement intelligent workflows for automated test-case generation, regression-test optimization, communication anomaly detection, test-result analysis, and automated V&V reporting.
• Ensure AI/Agentic AI-based testing remains traceable, explainable, repeatable, deterministic where required, and subject to engineering validation and human approval.
• Establish and maintain CI/CT-based automated V&V pipelines for continuous communication and system testing.
• Use JIRA, Xray, Confluence, Git, and other engineering tools for requirements traceability, test management, defect tracking, documentation, and configuration management.
• Continuously improve communication testing methodologies, automation frameworks, AI-assisted V&V capabilities, test coverage, and product reliability.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Communication Engineering, Instrumentation, or Power Systems Engineering.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in communication testing, system V&V, embedded software/firmware testing, automation, or R&D engineering.
• Strong Python programming skills for automation, scripting, protocol testing, data analysis, and tool integration.
• Strong understanding of industrial communication, power-system automation, protection, control, and embedded systems.
• Hands-on knowledge of:

• Experience with communication troubleshooting, protocol analysis, packet capture, message decoding, interoperability testing, and network diagnostics.
• Experience with AI/ML, Generative AI, LLMs, and Agentic AI applied to testing, automation, communication analysis, or engineering workflows.
• Understanding of AI Agent architecture, tool/function calling, RAG, APIs, Python-based AI automation, and intelligent workflow orchestration is desirable.

Power System & Protection Knowledge

• Understanding of electrical distribution and transmission systems.
• Knowledge of Protection & Control systems for generators, transmission lines, transformers, motors, busbars, and substations.
• Knowledge of IEC and ANSI standards related to protection, control, automation, and communication.
• Understanding of CT/VT calculations and protection relay settings is advantageous.
• Experience with ABB, Siemens, SEL, and other major relay manufacturers is an advantage.

AI & Agentic Communication Engineering

• Develop intelligent communication-testing agents capable of:
  • Analyzing communication requirements
  • Generating protocol test scenarios
  • Creating test data
  • Executing approved test workflows
  • Monitoring communication traffic
  • Analyzing protocol logs
  • Detecting communication anomalies
  • Identifying failure patterns
  • Supporting root-cause analysis

• Combine Agentic AI + Python + industrial protocols + power-system domain knowledge to create next-generation automated communication V&V solutions.
• Apply human-in-the-loop controls and engineering validation for AI-driven decisions in safety- and reliability-critical power-system applications.
