Data Scientist III

Department Overview:

The TD Business Banking Analytics, Insights and Artificial Intelligence (AI2) team supports the day-to-day activities, working with business partners to address their analytics needs by providing end-to-end support of data, reporting, analytics, insights, and artificial intelligence solutions.

The Business Banking AI2 team is responsible for leveraging a diverse range of technical and business expertise including business analytics, data science and modelling, business intelligence and visualization to inform business decisions.

This role is with the Distribution, Operation & Sales team that supports channel performance and sales strategy function within TD Business Banking with high quality, innovative, and insightful information to help build value for our customers and shareholders. The team is in Toronto, ON.

Job Description/Role Overview:

Your goal as a part of this Performance Ecosystem Analytics team is to provide in depth expertise, analytical interpretation, key insights and action items to your partners and other related multi-functional teams.  Those insights will enable informed business decisions to enterprise wide or help to solve the increasingly complex business problems they face.

In this role, TD will look to you for thought leadership; enabling you to lead, coach, mentor, empower and educate your peers to collaborate and bring TD into the future of banking. Your success will be predicated on your ability to forge strong partnerships, communicate effectively, solve problems, and continuously strive to achieve results.

Core Responsibilities:

• Act as an end-to-end problem solver in the business banking domain by developing and owning data-driven solutions
• Partner with business stakeholders to understand objectives, gather requirements, and translate business needs into analytical solutions.
• Use programming languages (Python, PySpark, SQL) to extract and prepare data, apply statistics and various advanced analytics along with business acumen to inform recommendations and insights from large datasets.
• Visualize insights by using Power BI Copilot from data to illustrate stories that clearly convey the meaning of results to decision-makers and stakeholders at every level of technical understanding.
• Collaborate with other partners, such as AIML scientists, data and business analysts, software engineers, data engineers, and application developers to develop scalable and sustainable machine learning/data science solutions that retain long term benefit to the business.

• Clearly communicate the value, principles and math behind the scientific process such as hypothesis testing and statistical validation to drive organizational excellence.
• Provide thought leadership and/or industry knowledge for your own area of expertise and participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 5+ years of relevant experience in a data science role
• An academic background in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of analytical languages/tools/platforms such as Python / Pyspark, SQL, Power BI, Databricks, and Tableau on large datasets with a track record of delivering business impact and results.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguous issues and deliver well-defined solutions.
• Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting insights to executive leaders and business partners.
• Able to participate as part of a team with targeted deliverables, working on initiatives designed to improve decisions, processes, systems, and applications which support our businesses.
• Experience in building complex dashboards related to business banking project is preferred
• Knowledge or experience in machine learning projects is considered a strong asset
