The Opportunity
Amylyx is seeking an experienced consultant to serve as Director, Patient Marketing, providing strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight of our patient marketing function during a temporary medical leave. This contracted engagement is anticipated to run from December 2026 through June 2027, with an onboarding and knowledge-transfer period alongside the role owner extending through February 2027 to ensure a seamless transition.
As a key member of the U.S. Marketing team, the Consultant Director of Patient Marketing will lead critical patient marketing initiatives in support of the anticipated launch of avexitide while advancing disease-state awareness efforts for post-bariatric hypoglycemia (PBH). This individual will ensure continuity across strategic engagement programs, foster strong agency and cross-functional partnerships, and drive the execution and optimization of patient-focused initiatives.
Core areas of focus include tactical development of multi-channel campaigns, educational content development, patient engagement initiatives such as advisory boards, PBH community council meetings, and development of disease state and brand ambassador programs, partnership with patient services on onboarding and adherence planning, direct engagement with the PBH community and storytelling of the lived experiences of people with PBH. As a key advocate for the PBH community, this individual will lead initiatives designed to activate, educate, support, and empower people with PBH.
This is a unique opportunity for a strategic, compassionate, and highly collaborative patient marketer to help shape a new treatment landscape and make a meaningful impact for a community with significant unmet needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead patient launch readiness efforts by executing patient activation, education, and support initiatives that enhance awareness and engagement.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the Associate Director of Patient Marketing
- Lead the planning, development, review, and implementation of patient-facing campaigns, educational resources, and engagement programs in partnership with internal stakeholders and agency partners.
- Oversee patient marketing budget accruals, forecasts, and actuals, and be accountable for successful completion of projects on time and within budget.
- Ensure compliance with all Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) requirements across patient engagement and Marketing activities.
- Continue strategy, evolution, and execution of scalable patient engagement programs, such as advisory boards, community forums / councils, and ambassador programs, leveraging prior experience and best practices to ensure these initiatives are meaningful and sustainable.
- Manage patient marketing workstreams with external agencies and partners to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables that meet agreed-upon objectives, key performance indicators (KPIs), timelines, and budgets.
- Support the identification and engagement of PBH community members to help elevate authentic patient stories and perspectives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams including Medical Affairs / Advocacy, Corporate Communications, Commercial Operations, Market Access, etc. to ensure cohesive and patient-centered execution.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of pharmaceutical or biotech experience, with at least 4 years focused on patient marketing.
- Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, PharmD, related field, etc.) preferred.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing patient engagement strategies, particularly in endocrinology, specialty or rare disease markets.
- Expertise in developing successful patient engagement programs including ambassador programs and other community-building initiatives.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders such as Medical Affairs / Advocacy, Market Access, Commercial Operations, Corporate Communications, etc. Strong project management, organizational, and execution skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to lead multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously.
- Successful track record of effectively managing external partners, agencies and budgets.
- Understanding of promotional regulatory requirements and experience navigating Medical, Legal, and Regulatory (MLR) review and approval processes.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage thoughtfully, empathetically, and authentically with members of the PBH community.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in rare disease, endocrinology, pre-launch or product launch environments.
Work Location and Conditions
- At Amylyx, we proudly support remote work opportunities within the United States. However, due to business considerations related to health insurance coverage and state tax regulations, we are unable to hire employees who reside and/or work in certain states. Currently, we are not considering applicants from Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Michigan and Tennessee.
- You will be expected to travel to our corporate location in Cambridge, MA several times a year and attend other company-related events as necessary and requested, which may include travel by air, driving or public transportation.
- You must have access to work in a setting that meets all requirements of the role (including privacy, reliable internet access, phone, ability to communication via video conference, etc.) at your remote location.

The hourly pay range posted below represents our good faith estimate of compensation for this role, based on market data and internal benchmarks. The final offer may vary depending on a candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications, as well as considerations of internal equity.
