Your New Role

As a permanent, full-time Natural Resource Protection and Sustainability Administrator 1, you will serve as the chief operating officer and regional administrator, responsible for all OPRD business and operations within the region. In this role, you provide critical leadership for the agency through strategic planning, establishing operational standards, and supervising staff to ensure the successful delivery of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department’s mission.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five years of management experience;
     

OR

  • Two years of management experience AND a bachelor’s degree.

Special Requirements:

  • To be hired, a criminal record and driving record check must be completed that meets OPRD Criteria at the time of hire, and throughout employment while also maintaining a valid driver’s license.

Desired Attributes:

  • Skills in tracking and managing complex programs and projects throughout the region that include natural resources, forestry, cultural resources, facilities maintenance and interpretation.

  • Skills in interpreting and applying agency rules, policies and procedures to staff and partners.

  • Skill in providing leadership to a diverse team of managers and professionals across a broad spectrum of disciplines, often in a remote or hybrid work environment.

  • Skills in leading work groups with NGOs, other agencies and partners to complete complex agency projects.

  • Experience in developing community relationships with local stakeholders, NGOs, elected officials, other government entities and local government representatives.

  • Experience in managing Park systems at the city, county, state or federal level.

  • Experience working for Oregon State Parks and knowledge of OPRD policies and procedures.

  • Experience in leading a large team of professionals across a dispersed geographic area.

  • Experience in managing a natural resource or park budge in excess of $10 million annually.
