Position Summary
We are seeking experienced mechanical technicians, machine builders, or CNC service professionals to support the installation and preparation of eight CNC machines for IMTS 2026 in Chicago. This is a short-term assignment running September 8-13, 2026, with approximately 60 hours of work available. Technicians will assist with machine setup, leveling, commissioning, troubleshooting, and final preparation for customer demonstrations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with preparing eight CNC machines for the upcoming IMTS show in Chicago.
- Provide support for the installation, utility hookups, machine leveling, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting to ensure everything is ready for customer demonstrations.
- Use your skills and knowledge to assist with troubleshooting and repair of emergent issues.
- Support utility connections, machine startup, commissioning, and testing activities.
- Diagnose and assist in resolving mechanical, electrical, and operational issues that arise during installation and setup.
- Follow project leadership direction and escalate issues outside assigned responsibilities.
Requirements
- Ability to take direction; escalate anything outside the assigned scope.
- Working knowledge of CNC machine tools, machine installation, startup, alignment, and troubleshooting.
- Must provide and maintain a complete personal metric tool set required to perform assigned tasks.
- Follow all applicable safety rules and collective bargaining work-rule boundaries; do not perform work reserved for union trades.
- Knowledge and understanding of machine assembly, including how CNC machines and accessories go together mechanically.
- Ability to work effectively, safely, and precisely follow processes
- Able to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Basic jobsite safety awareness.
- Available and able to work extended hours, including more than 8 working hours per day, during the project period.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and work around industrial machinery throughout the shift
- Prior experience assisting with machine tool or industrial equipment installations.
- Mechanical trade school training or equivalent hands-on experience.
