We are seeking a Case Aide (Social Service Assistant) to join our Child Protective Services (CPS) Child Welfare team in St. Helens.

What you need to qualify:

One year of experience working in a human services or behavioral health setting;

OR

An associate degree in any field;

OR

An equivalent combination of education and experience.

A valid driver license and acceptable driving record are required for this position.

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Experience using time management, organization, and prioritization skills to track and complete tasks. 
  • Demonstrated communication skills, including the ability to engage with a variety of people by being open-minded and inquisitive. 
  • Experience communicating clearly and precisely, both verbally and in writing. 
  • The ability to engage with a variety of people, the ability to de-escalate tense situations, and the ability to be assertive when necessary.

Your duties at a glance:

As an employee working within the Child Welfare Program, you will have an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Oregon’s most vulnerable children and families. Your dedication will help us achieve the Child Welfare Vision for Transformation that will support children and young adults to be safer, healthier, experience less trauma and achieve a greater well-being.  

As a case aide, you will be:

  • Supporting caseworkers in a variety of ways, such as transporting children, supervising family time, and conducting research.
  • Ensuring that children stay up to date on medical, dental, and mental health checks.
  • Providing emotional support to children who are experiencing/have experienced trauma.
  • Helping family members complete forms correctly.
  • Letting family members know about available services and resources.
  • Performing administrative functions like coordinating background checks, completing records requests, inputting data, and processing paperwork.

Working conditions:

  • Employee's work may be conducted in offices, participant's homes, and other community sites.
  • Travel is required for this position, including during inclement weather.
  • These positions require the incumbent to work a professional work week where the hours of work fluctuate on a daily and weekly basis. Occasional overtime may be required, including during nights and weekends.
  • You may interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma, exhibit challenges in controlling their anger, or other unexpected emotions impacted by drug use, cognitive impairments, or other factors.
  • You must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
