Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for executing the fabrication of all concrete formwork elements per the Foreman’s instructions.
• Installing wooden structures such as roofing frames, rafters, partitions, joists and studwork using power saws and other construction equipment
• Designing and installing cabinets, shelving, fitted furniture, drywall and insulation using construction equipment such as nail guns and hammers
• Installing insulation materials in walls and floors to provide thermal protection and improve energy efficiency
• Adding fixtures and fitting such as door handles, locks, hinges, and closures
• Selecting lumber by size and strength to suit each job, sourcing wood to suit customer’s budget and style
• Calculating the number of fasteners required for each job
• Liaising with clients, suppliers, and other construction professionals
• Reading blueprints and designs to work to specifications prepared by other construction professionals, architects and building code recommendations
• Inspecting the quality of construction materials such as umber, drywall, and other materials to ensure they meet industry standards
• Maintaining accurate records on materials used, labor costs and other expenses related to construction projects
• Cutting and shaping wood with hand tools such as saws and chisels
• Installing windows, doors, and other construction materials such as siding and roofing
• Installing scaffolding and other temporary structures used during construction projects to support workers during building operations
• Installing sheetrock and other building materials such as tile and carpet
• Assist with special assignments as required.
