The Carpenter works with designates construction crews to fabricate and install concrete formwork and associated elements per project scope. The Carpenter will receive information pertaining to daily schedule of jobsite activities from designated Foreman per the instructions relayed by the Superintendent, along with receiving support related to specific personnel matters.Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for executing the fabrication of all concrete formwork elements per the Foreman’s instructions.
- Installing wooden structures such as roofing frames, rafters, partitions, joists and studwork using power saws and other construction equipment
- Designing and installing cabinets, shelving, fitted furniture, drywall and insulation using construction equipment such as nail guns and hammers
- Installing insulation materials in walls and floors to provide thermal protection and improve energy efficiency
- Adding fixtures and fitting such as door handles, locks, hinges, and closures
- Selecting lumber by size and strength to suit each job, sourcing wood to suit customer’s budget and style
- Calculating the number of fasteners required for each job
- Liaising with clients, suppliers, and other construction professionals
- Reading blueprints and designs to work to specifications prepared by other construction professionals, architects and building code recommendations
- Inspecting the quality of construction materials such as umber, drywall, and other materials to ensure they meet industry standards
- Maintaining accurate records on materials used, labor costs and other expenses related to construction projects
- Cutting and shaping wood with hand tools such as saws and chisels
- Installing windows, doors, and other construction materials such as siding and roofing
- Installing scaffolding and other temporary structures used during construction projects to support workers during building operations
- Installing sheetrock and other building materials such as tile and carpet
- Assist with special assignments as required.
