Account Manager

SECTION 1: ROLE OVERVIEW

As an Account Manager, you will leverage your existing knowledge of the healthcare communications industry to play a pivotal role in managing client relationships and delivering high-quality, integrated communications programs. You will contribute to the success of the agency by overseeing the efficient execution of day-to-day tasks, ensuring that client objectives are met with precision and strategic foresight.

Your responsibilities will range from managing tactical and administrative processes to developing strong relationships with mid-level clients and overseeing creative, strategic, and digital planning. You will also have a hands-on approach in ensuring that projects are managed effectively, meeting deadlines and financial targets.

Under the guidance of senior team members, you will refine your leadership skills while providing mentorship to junior staff, supporting both their personal and professional growth. You will collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to deliver successful outcomes and will actively contribute to agency growth and new business development.

SECTION 2: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Key responsibilities include:

Client Services Management

  • Excel in managing tactical and administrative processes, ensuring that day-to-day operations run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Train and oversee junior staff performance, providing guidance and support in their development.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with mid-level clients, serving as the primary point of contact for critical aspects of account management.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of client needs, business goals, and industry landscape to deliver tailored communication strategies.

Product / Task Leadership & Accountability

  • Become the go-to person for successful project management, staying on top of details, timelines, and overall execution.
  • Proactively communicate and manage deadlines, ensuring all team members and clients are informed throughout the process.
  • Lead day-to-day project management from inception to completion, overseeing project budgets and deadlines to ensure timely and on-budget delivery.

Business Management

  • Participate in client and new business presentations, showcasing the agency’s capabilities and industry knowledge.
  • Supervise the client’s internal regulatory review process, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Take ownership of all business and financial deliverables, ensuring flawless execution and flagging potential issues early.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the healthcare industry, integrating this knowledge into day-to-day work.

Team Orientation / Collaboration

  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.
  • Mentor junior team members, offering support and guidance to help them succeed in their roles.

Personal Development and Growth

  • Actively manage your personal brand as you grow your career, consistently delivering improved products and services.
  • Work with a defined career path and action plan, taking responsibility for your development within the agency.

SECTION 3: EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

Key experience and skills required to perform this role are:

  • A genuine passion for the healthcare industry, with a strong understanding of local, regional, and global healthcare environments.
  • Experience managing client accounts, particularly within the healthcare communication space, with a focus on mid-level clients and integrated campaigns.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on relationship-building and client satisfaction.
  • A proactive approach to project management, with the ability to manage timelines, budgets, and internal/external resources effectively.
  • Experience working with and mentoring junior staff, offering guidance and fostering their development.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, with the ability to flag issues early and drive profitability across accounts.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to the evolving digital and social media landscape, using these tools to enhance client programs and communications.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude and a solutions-oriented mindset.

SECTION 4: REPORTING STRUCTURE

This role reports to a Senior Vice President or Managing Director, who will provide guidance and leadership support.

As an Account Manager, you will also work closely with senior team members and will have a key role in mentoring junior team members, offering them guidance and support in their daily tasks and long-term career development.
