Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Bodyweld Engineering Support Services Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Weld Manufacturing Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to support maintenance and production with engineering support services to meet shop and company objectives.
Reporting to the Weld Engineering Manager, the person in this role will support the Bodyweld Engineering Support Services department's objective of meeting current shop KPIs for Safety, Quality, Productivity and Cost.
What you’ll be doing
- Communicate with a variety of departments within Toyota, vendors, contractors, management, and TM’s
- Responsible for project planning, reporting & KPI tracking in areas of responsibility. Develop project specific strategies and negotiate Master Schedules & Quality Confirmation Plans.
- Provide regular informal and formal updates on projects and technologies/ systems you are leading
- Support maintenance and production departments with engineering feasibility studies and countermeasure development/implementation
- Development and support of various digital solutions being used in the department
- Perform equipment/system FMEA evaluations identifying control plans and communicate requirements for maintenance and production to help implement control plans. Provide feedback to design, TMNA and vendors on NG findings and modifications needed to meet standards.
What you bring
- BS in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Applied Engineering (or higher)
- Experience in a manufacturing environment (either through co-op/intern or full-time position)
- Experience in AutoCAD / Inventor or other CAD software
- Proficiency in MS Office and ability to learn new computer applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical, critical, and logical thinking skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks and prioritize work
- This position requires driving. A motor vehicle record that’s acceptable by company standards is required for this position.
Added bonus if you have
- Body Weld and/or other Manufacturing shop experience
- 2+ years of full-time experience in an Engineering role.
- Project Management Experience
- Experience with Robotics, PLCs, SCA Sealer Systems, Heishen Sealer Systems, Tip Dresser/Changers (Kyokutoh), Tip Formers, Robeye Guidance Vision Systems
- Experience with Inspection Vision Systems (such as Cognex, Coherix, Keyence, or AI-based vision systems)
- Experience with AutoGuide AGV Systems, Shintec AGV Systems, AIUT AGV Systems, MIR mobile robot systems,
- Experience with ISO14001 or environmental compliance activities.
- New model pre-production engineering experience
- Leadership experience (SGL/STL)
