About this role

The Outsourced Platform Services Asset Reconciliations team is responsible for delivering a robust reconciliation operating model that safeguards the integrity of BlackRock’s investment data across critical processes, including investment management, analytics, compliance, and regulatory reporting. The team oversees reconciliation across a broad range of asset classes, including equities, fixed income, derivatives, collateral, and related cash activity, partnering closely with internal teams, external service providers, custodians, and clients to ensure timely resolution of exceptions and a strong control environment. The Associate is expected to develop a strong understanding of reconciliation processes, exception management, root-cause analysis, risk identification, data analysis, and process improvement while contributing to a controlled and efficient operating environment. 

Primary Responsibilities Include: 

• Perform day-to-day reconciliation activities, including control reporting, position break resolution, inbox and dashboard monitoring, client and portfolio maintenance, and subscription/redemption processing. 

• Deliver high-quality service to internal and external stakeholders by addressing inquiries, performing controls, resolving issues, and mitigating operational risk. 

• Prepare and review reconciliations across BlackRock, asset manager, and custodian records, investigating differences and resolving exceptions accurately and within required timelines. 

• Maintain account and portfolio records to reflect client, account, and market-driven changes accurately and on a timely basis. 

• Partner with external service providers, internal teams, and other BlackRock functions to investigate and resolve operational issues. 

• Support special projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing controls, improving service delivery, and increasing operational efficiency. 

• Build strong working relationships with internal and external partners, with a focus on collaboration, responsiveness, and client service. 

• Identify process inefficiencies and recommend enhancements to strengthen controls, improve scalability, and support standard methodologies. 

• Raising all material risk items and service issues on a timely basis. 

• Coaching and mentoring team members to encourage high individual performance and service standards 

• Demonstrating ability to self-improve and develop. Understand the impact of Position on upstream and downstream partners

• Contributor to the leadership team ensuring appropriate staffing model, depth charts and succession plans are assessed across the location

• Capability to assist in creating a team vision, planning and executing steps to ensure a consistently robust team 

• Thrive in a team environment and build strong relationships with colleagues and external contacts such as custodians, counterparties and other third-party providers 

• You have strong knowledge of equity and fixed income securities and derivative products 

• You are proficient in Microsoft Office and have an aptitude for learning new applications! 

Preferred: 

• A four-year degree is required in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, or Economics 

• Understanding upstream processes is impactful to reconciliation and develop ability to correlate the effect of change 

• Flexible and open to accepting new challenges; able to work effectively and efficiently on multiple projects at a time in a dynamic, demanding and constantly evolving environment while maintaining the highest standard and attention to detail
