POSITION SPECIFICS
The laboratory of Dr. Daniel Cosgrove at The Pennsylvania State University seeks an Assistant Research Professor, to work as part of a research team focused on plant cell wall structure, biomechanics, and the action of expansins. The successful candidate will carry out team research including, but not limited to, the biological, biochemical and biophysical actions of expansins in an evolutionary/phylogenetic context, particularly in Arabidopsis thaliana.
The successful applicant must have the ability to plan, execute, interpret, document, and troubleshoot independent research and to collaborate effectively with other computational and experimental members of a diverse research team. Experience with molecular biology and genetic engineering and phenotype characterization of plants is essential The successful candidate will excel at mentoring junior members of the lab, take charge of or contribute to the writing of manuscripts and grant proposals, and communicate their science to peers and the public through presentations, writing, and digital formats. Excellent organizational skills as well as high-level verbal and written English communication skills are required. Professional development through the acquisition of new skills will be expected.
This position requires a Ph.D. and at least 3 years postdoctoral experience in a scientific field relevant to the proposed research. Applications must be submitted electronically.
