ABOUT THE TEAM

The Derivatives Administration and Settlement team is responsible for the administrative and operational processing of listed and over-the-counter (OTC) derivative instruments, as well as foreign exchange transactions. The team serves as a key control function between portfolio managers, counterparties, clearing brokers, custodians and investment systems to ensure transaction accuracy, integrity and timely settlement.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Derivatives Administration and Settlement, you will contribute to the effective execution of daily activities and the management of operational risks associated with derivative transactions. You will collaborate with a variety of internal teams and external partners to ensure efficient, accurate and compliant transaction processing. 

ABOUT YOUR ROLE 

As an Analyst, Derivatives Administration and Settlement, you’ll:  

  • Confirm listed and OTC derivative transactions with counterparties and clearing brokers and monitor them through final settlement

  • Monitor and settle OTC derivative transactions while ensuring compliance with operational deadlines and requirements

  • Ensure funds are available and transmit transfer instructions related to margin calls

  • Monitor and settle derivative-related market events, including assignments, exercises, expiries, early terminations and other contractual events

  • Perform daily reconciliations of margin balances, transactions and positions with counterparties and clearing brokers, and investigate and resolve discrepancies

  • Enter or validate transactions in order management and investment accounting systems and ensure the accuracy of associated financial parameters

  • Monitor interfaces and dashboards between order management systems, investment accounting systems and data warehouses to ensure complete and timely transaction processing

  • Submit settlement instructions related to OTC payments to the custodian and maintain counterparty settlement instructions and contact records

  • Conduct research, analysis and follow-up activities related to the team’s responsibilities and provide required information to portfolio managers and stakeholders

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, operational process enhancements and departmental procedure updates

  • Contribute to special projects and provide support during peak periods to ensure continuity of operations

WHAT YOU’LL NEED 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting or a related field

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in derivatives administration, investment operations or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

  • Strong understanding of settlement, reconciliation and operational control processes related to financial instruments

  • Knowledge of listed and over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives

  • Good understanding of the securities industry, financial markets and financial instruments

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and process improvement skills

  • High attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality work in a deadline-driven environment.

  • Specialized training or coursework in derivatives is considered an asset

  • Experience with SimCorp Dimension or a similar investment accounting platform is considered an asset

  • Bilingualism: English and French (frequent interactions in English with PSP employees based in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa)
