Job Description

Montgomery College, Takoma Park, Silver Spring Campus, has a need for a full-time Allied Health Director for the Radiologic Technology (RADT) program in the Health Sciences Department, starting January 2027. The work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. This is a non-bargaining, exempt, grade 33 position.  Montgomery College promotes and creates a working and learning environment rooted in the basic tenets of fairness, belonging, and inclusiveness. This position is eligible for telework 1 day a week. This eligibility is subject to change based on the needs of the unit.

The RADT Allied Health Director provides leadership and fosters innovation in support of the departmental goals and ensures that vision and goals are aligned with the College's vision, mission, and strategic plans.  The incumbent oversees planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Radiologic Technology program in compliance with institutional goals, accreditation standards, and state/national regulations. The RADT Allied Health Director also teaches a limited number of courses contributing to classroom and clinical instruction in the program.

The RADT Allied Health Director’s contacts include administrators, faculty, staff, students, the public, and education, business, government, and community organizations to advance program objectives and resolve issues.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the Radiologic Technology program including faculty recruitment, mentoring, professional development, workload assignments, scheduling and performance feedback.
  • Lead curriculum development, assessment and accreditation activities to ensure alignment of program goals, student learning outcomes and professional standards within the program.
  • Maintain documentation and records to support program accreditation and compliance with JRCERT accreditation standards.
  • Manage the program budget and instructional resources in collaboration with the program clinical coordinator and faculty.
  • Oversee student recruitment, admissions, orientation, advising, retention, and progression and ensure access to student academic advising, clinical placements, and support services.
  • Ensure clinical site medical/background requirements compliance for students in the program.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends in radiological technology, innovative teaching methods, and healthcare delivery to deliver continuous quality improvement across the program.
  • Assume the role of Radiation Protection Officer in monitoring student exposure records and maintaining compliance of imaging machines in accordance to Maryland Dept. Of Environment requirements.
  • Manage equipment upkeep and repair as needed.
  • Collaborate with Health Sciences Dean, Allied Health Directors and Department Chair, faculty and external stakeholders to support strategic initiatives, program planning and operational effectiveness.
  • Represent and advocate for the program in college-wide work groups and outside of the College to academic, industry, and professional communities.
  • Maintain an active advisory committee and partnerships with external stakeholders through ongoing communication, regular meetings, collaboration and outreach to support program quality, education and workforce development.
  • Teach a limited number of courses, including visiting clinical sites to evaluate student(s) progress in the clinical practicum of the program.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Radiologic Technology.
  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification in good standing.
  • Current Maryland Radiographer State License, in good standing, or eligibility to obtain a Radiographer Maryland License.
  • Two (2) years of full-time teaching at the post-secondary level in radiologic technology in a JCERT-certified program.
  • Three (3) years clinical experience in radiology.
  • Three (3) years of demonstrated leadership experience (i.e. program coordinator or director of a currently accredited JRCERT program/project chair, governance leader)
  • In-depth knowledge of JRCERT standards particularly those related to program outcomes, faculty qualifications, curriculum, student support, and resources.
  • Knowledge of program evaluation models, student learning outcomes assessment, and continuous quality improvement processes.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current trends in radiologic technology workforce needs, and healthcare delivery.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for preparing reports, self-studies, policies, and liaising with accrediting bodies.
  • The equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and understanding of curriculum design, evaluation, and revision in alignment with radiologic technology competencies and healthcare needs.
  • Knowledge of community college governance, policies, budgeting, and human resources.
  • Additional certifications (ie: CT, MRI, Radiation Therapy, Nuclear Medicine, Mammography) or other current additional imaging certifications.

Hiring Range: $88,876 - $122,205 annually. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity.  The maximum salary for this position is $155,534.
