Job Title:

Additive Manufacturing Project Engineer

Reporting To:

Engineer Sr., Project

Work Schedule:

Onsite – Buffalo, NY

At Moog, we are at the forefront of innovation, pushing the boundaries of technology to create advanced solutions for space applications. Our Additive Manufacturing Center is dedicated to advancing the development of Moog's systems through the integration of cutting-edge metal Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) additively manufactured components. We are seeking a passionate and skilled Associate Product Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the future growth of Moog.

As an AMC Project Engineer on the Moog Additive Manufacturing Center (AMC) team, you will provide engineering leadership for development and production programs involving metal laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) components for critical aerospace and space hardware. You will own assigned products and processes across their lifecycle, support production readiness and delivery, and help expand additive manufacturing capabilities across Moog.

To Be Considered for This Role

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a related engineering field.

  • 5 years of relevant engineering experience in manufacturing, product, process, or project engineering roles.

  • Working knowledge of CAD, mechanical drawings, GD&T, and engineering change or configuration control practices.

  • Strong problem-solving, data analysis, and root cause or corrective action skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to coordinate across engineering, operations, quality, planning, supply chain, and program teams.

  • Ability to make timely technical decisions, manage multiple priorities, and maintain ownership of cost, schedule, quality, and product integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with metal additive manufacturing, especially laser powder bed fusion.

  • Experience developing work instructions, operation sheets, manufacturing process documentation, or product support plans.

  • Familiarity with post-processing methods, heat treatment, fixturing, and inspection requirements for precision hardware.

  • Experience supporting aerospace or space hardware programs, proposal activity, qualification testing, or failure investigations.

  • Experience with statistical analysis, design of experiments, process validation, or simulation tools.

As an AMC Project Engineer, you will:

  • Own assigned AMC products, processes, and development activities from early concept through production support and continuous improvement.

  • Provide day-to-day engineering support for LPBF production, including build readiness, workflow coordination, issue resolution, and escalation of technical risks.

  • Develop and maintain operation sheets, work instructions, manufacturing process definitions, and training content needed to execute AMC work safely and repeatably.

  • Assure design integrity, producibility, and quality in additively manufactured hardware.

  • Review drawings and specifications, interpret GD&T requirements, and drive changes that improve manufacturability and product performance.

  • Lead investigations into build interruptions, nonconformances, and hardware failures; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

  • Develop, refine, and validate additive manufacturing parameters, post-processing methods, tooling, fixturing, gauging, and equipment concepts to meet program requirements.

  • Plan and execute trade studies, trials, analyses, and technical evaluations that improve process capability and support product qualification.

  • Coordinate with program management, quality, operations, planning, supply chain, sales, and customers to resolve technical issues and support on-time delivery.

  • Support proposals, cost estimates, schedules, technical reviews, and customer inquiries related to AMC capabilities, products, and applications.

  • Provide direction to technicians and other support resources within assigned projects.

How We Care for You:

  • Financial Rewards: great compensation package, bonus opportunities, matching 401k, and the ability to participate in Employee Stock Purchase Plan (select locations), Flexible Spending and Health Savings Accounts

  • Work/Life Balance: Flexible paid time off, holidays and parental leave program, relocation assistance.
