Meet the Team

At Torc, we are building a fully learned behavior stack. You will lead multiple teams responsible for developing and scaling learned behavior models that drive decision-making in Torc’s autonomous trucking system.

These teams sit at the intersection of reinforcement learning, imitation learning, and multi-agent systems, shaping how our vehicles behave in complex, real-world environments — from highway merging to dense traffic interactions.

You will be responsible for both technical direction and organizational leadership, ensuring your teams deliver production-ready behavior models that are safe, robust, and scalable.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role — the expectation is Staff-level technical depth combined with the ability to lead, grow, and align multiple engineering teams.

What You’ll Do

• Own the technical vision and roadmap for Learned Vehicle Intent (LVI), aligning model development with product and safety goals
• Lead and scale 2–3 teams of ML engineers, driving execution across model development, training, and deployment
• Set and uphold a high bar for technical excellence in reinforcement learning, imitation learning, and behavior modeling
• Guide architecture decisions for policy learning systems, including behavior cloning, RL, and multi-agent interaction models
• Drive development of scalable training pipelines, data infrastructure, and experimentation frameworks

• Reinforcement learning
• Imitation learning / behavior cloning
• Multi-agent systems
• 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams, ideally across multiple teams or domains
• Demonstrated success defining and delivering technical roadmaps for complex ML systems
• Strong programming background in Python and modern ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, PufferDrive)

We are seeking a Senior Autonomy Software Systems Engineer who thrives in a hands-on environment building data pipelines, processing large datasets, and developing tools that directly impact how autonomous systems are evaluated and improved.

This role is focused on execution — writing production-quality Python (and some C++) code, working with cloud-based data, and building systems that enable large-scale analysis of autonomy data across mapping, simulation, and real-world environments.

• Build and maintain Python-based data pipelines to ingest, process, and analyze large-scale autonomy datasets

The Build and Tools group at Torc is responsible for the infrastructure, hosted systems, developer platform, and build pipelines for Torc products. The release pipelines team is a new team within the build and tools group responsible for building the automation systems and workflow pipelines supporting rapid and safe release of safety critical software to autonomous vehicles.

What You’ll Do 

As a member of the release pipelines team, you will be responsible for the automation and pipeline work that ties individual software components and a layered embedded operating system together into a cohesive release. You will be responsible for build and packaging performance, implementation of release candidacy workflows, and establishing the digital thread that links initial requirements and safety inputs with a reproducible output ready for testing or production deployment. This will involve:

As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer – Camera Models, you will develop and deploy machine learning models that power camera-based perception for autonomous trucks. The Camera Models team builds and maintains core vision systems that enable the autonomy stack to understand the environment, detect and localize objects, and estimate scene structure from camera data.

Working closely with teams across perception, data, and infrastructure, you will own the development and improvement of robust, scalable camera-based models that support safe and reliable autonomous driving in real-world freight environments.

This role focuses on owning model development for scoped problem areas, improving system performance through iteration, and delivering production-ready machine learning solutions within the autonomy stack.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and deploy deep learning models for camera-based perception (e.g., object detection, segmentation, depth estimation, scene understanding)
• Own end-to-end model development for scoped areas, from data curation and training to evaluation and deployment
• Write production-quality ML code to support scalable training, evaluation, and inference pipelines
• Analyze model performance across diverse driving scenarios, identify failure modes, and improve robustness and generalization

The Principal Program Manager, Autonomous Truck Development Program is the PMO's senior-most program owner for Torc's core mission: bringing a safe, commercially ready autonomous trucking system to public roads and to production scale. This role operates at the enterprise program level — synthesizing execution across all technical, commercial, and operational domains into a coherent, visible, and accountable delivery system.

This is one of the most consequential program management roles in the autonomous vehicle industry. The role must hold two distinct delivery horizons simultaneously; leading company-wide efforts to (1) deliver on short & medium term demonstration points, while (2) maintaining long-term focus toward achieving start of production (SOP) to prepare for scaling the autonomous trucking system into a commercially viable product. These horizons demand different decisions, different timelines, and different risk tolerances, and this role is expected to make that tension visible, structured, and resolvable for executive leadership.

As the primary integration point for the Autonomous Truck Development Program, the Principal Program Manager partners directly with leaders across Engineering, Software, Safety, Test, Product, Operations, and Commercial teams, while interfacing with the strategy & planning function to ensure we remain tied into the long-term roadmap. The role reports directly to the Vice President, Program Management and serves as a key architect of Torc's program governance, executive reporting, and stakeholder alignment posture.

Success in this role requires deep program management expertise, exceptional executive presence, and the rare ability to drive organizational clarity and accountability in a high-ambiguity, safety-critical environment.

What You'll Do:

• Program Integration & Planning: Own the development and execution of the integrated program plan for Torc's autonomous truck development program, spanning software autonomy, hardware, test & validation, safety, and operations. Establish and maintain a single, authoritative view of execution health across all development activities to achieve program delivery timelines.
• Execution Leadership: Manage the delivery of program objectives cross-functionally. Translate executive prioritization decisions into actionable program plans, resource guidance, and milestone accountability. Ensure leadership has the information and framing needed to make explicit tradeoffs rather than absorb them invisibly in execution.
• KPI & SPI Governance: Drive the program-level KPI and Safety Performance Indicator (SPI) reporting framework, maintaining metric integrity, identifying leading indicators of delivery risk, and presenting consolidated program health via data to executives and stakeholders.
• Risk & Dependency Management: Own the enterprise-level risk register for the Autonomous Truck Development Program. Facilitate regular risk reviews, surface cross-functional dependencies, and drive mitigation action ownership across teams. Ensure no major risk is invisible to leadership.
• Executive & Stakeholder Reporting: Serve as the primary author and owner of program-level communications, to internal stakeholders, executives, and external partners. Translate complex, multi-disciplinary program state into clear, confident, decision-ready narratives.
• Governance & Decision Support: Drive structure and discipline into executive decision-making forums. Identify decisions that require leadership alignment, prepare the framing and options analysis, and ensure outcomes are documented and operationalized.
• Program Reviews: Lead and facilitate internal program reviews, cross-functional syncs, and milestone readiness assessments. Ensure reviews produce decisions and actions, not just status.
• Change & Priority Management: Lead cross-functional change management as the program evolves. Help teams adapt without losing delivery momentum.
• PMO Standards & Mentorship: Champion program management discipline across Torc. Contribute to PMO tooling, templates, and operating norms. Mentor program managers across the team and model the standard for structured, executive-grade program execution.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, program management, business, OR equivalent work experience 
• 15+ years of program management experience in complex, multi-disciplinary technical environments — automotive, aerospace, robotics, or defense strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience managing large-scale programs with multiple concurrent delivery horizons, including milestone-driven and production-readiness contexts.
• Deep familiarity with safety-critical product development environments and the governance, rigor, and documentation standards they require.

The Senior Manager Financial Reporting & Accounting serves as financial reporting and accounting manager responsible for all aspects of the financial (and Securities and Exchange Commission, when applicable) reporting. This role will oversee technical accounting research related to new and proposed accounting standards. As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer – Camera Models, you will develop and deploy machine learning models that power camera-based perception for autonomous trucks. The Camera Models team builds and maintains core vision systems that enable the autonomy stack to understand the environment, detect and localize objects, and estimate scene structure from camera data.

Working closely with teams across perception, data, and infrastructure, you will own the development and improvement of robust, scalable camera-based models that support safe and reliable autonomous driving in real-world freight environments.

This role focuses on owning model development for scoped problem areas, improving system performance through iteration, and delivering production-ready machine learning solutions within the autonomy stack.

En tant qu’ingénieur(e) “Staff" en apprentissage automatique spécialisé(e) dans le BEV (Bird’s-Eye View) et la Perception multimodale, vous dirigerez le développement de modèles de nouvelle génération qui unifient les informations provenant des caméras, du LiDAR et du radar pour offrir une riche compréhension spatiale de l’environnement de conduite. 

Vous conduirez l’innovation architecturale, la formation de modèles à grande échelle et les améliorations basées sur les données qui font directement progresser les capacités de perception au cœur de la pile de conduite autonome de Torc. 

Il s’agit d’un rôle de leadership technique axé sur l’innovation et la maturité du modèle, et non sur l’intégration des fonctionnalités en aval. 

Ce que vous ferez 

• Diriger le développement du modèle BEV : Définir et exécuter la feuille de route technique pour les modèles de perception basés sur le BEV à travers de multiples tâches (par exemple, la détection, la segmentation, la topologie de la route et la compréhension de la scène). 
• Concevoir des architectures multimodales avancées qui fusionnent des données de capteurs hétérogènes (caméra, LiDAR, radar, cartes HD) en représentations spatiales unifiées.
• Développer des modèles de perception fondamentaux en s’appuyant sur les transformateurs BEV, les encodeurs basés sur les voxels ou les représentations implicites de la scène.
• Possède des flux de travail de formation à grande échelle, depuis des stratégies d’échantillonnage de données et des pipelines d’augmentation jusqu’à la formation distribuée et à l’optimisation des hyperparamètres.
• Améliorer la robustesse et la généralisation du modèle, en tenant compte des conditions de longue traîne, telles que la faible visibilité, les occlusions et les configurations rares de la scène.
• Établir des cadres d’évaluation pour la précision géométrique, la stabilité temporelle et les performances de transfert entre domaines.
• Collaborer de manière transversale avec les équipes chargées de l’étalonnage des capteurs, de la cartographie et de la fusion afin d’assurer la cohésion des interfaces des modèles de perception.

As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer focused on Road & Lane Detection, you will lead the model development efforts that enable Torc’s autonomous vehicles to perceive and interpret road geometry, lane structures, and drivable surfaces with precision and robustness.

What You’ll Do 

• Own the model roadmap for Road & Lane Detection within the Model Dev ML org — from concept through production-grade model maturity. 

• Research, design, and train advanced neural architectures (e.g., multi-camera BEV transformers, LiDAR-vision fusion models, topological lane graph networks) to detect, segment, and model road structures and lane connectivity. 

• Lead data strategy for this domain — defining data curation, labeling policies, and active learning pipelines to capture long-tail scenarios (e.g., occlusions, complex merges, construction zones). 

• Develop robust metrics and evaluation frameworks for lane and road geometry accuracy, temporal consistency, and cross-domain generalization.

The Technical Product Management (TPM) Team drives alignment through a technology roadmap, accelerating our corporate milestones by focusing our development teams on the most critical items on our path to a milestone. We do this through cross-functional coordination with all teams in technology: driving decisions, defining measurable acceptance criteria, and building shared accountability with stakeholders to agree on deliverables and timelines. As a Technical Product Manager for Autonomy, you will serve as a primary representative planning work for our Autonomy Software development teams to deliver against our corporate milestones. The Build and Tools group at Torc is responsible for the infrastructure, hosted systems, developer platform, and build pipelines for Torc products. The release pipelines team is a new team within the build and tools group responsible for building the automation systems and workflow pipelines supporting rapid and safe release of safety critical software to autonomous vehicles.

What You’ll Do 

As a member of the release pipelines team, you will be responsible for the automation and pipeline work that ties individual software components and a layered embedded operating system together into a cohesive release. You will be responsible for build and packaging performance, implementation of release candidacy workflows, and establishing the digital thread that links initial requirements and safety inputs with a reproducible output ready for testing or production deployment. This will involve:

The Health and Diagnostics Team at Torc is responsible for developing critical diagnostics software that ensures the safety, serviceability, and performance of our autonomous vehicle platforms. As a member of this team, you’ll work on next-generation automotive diagnostic solutions that interface with electronic control units (ECUs), enabling both in-vehicle and remote fault detection, data logging, and recovery strategies. 

What You’ll Do  

• Design, implement, and maintain diagnostic software and communication stacks based on automotive protocols including UDS (ISO 14229), SOVD, and CAN (ISO 11898). 

• Develop diagnostic services supporting fault memory, DTCs, routine control, and data identifiers using UDS over CAN and DoIP. 

• Implement and validate service-oriented architectures (SOA) using technologies like SOME/IP, SOVD, and Ethernet. 

• Support integration and debugging of diagnostics features on benches and test vehicles. 

• Work cross-functionally with cloud and edge-based systems to enable remote diagnostics and telemetry capabilities. 

• Contribute to the development of robust error handling, logging, and recovery mechanisms for ECUs and vehicle systems. 

What You’ll Need to Succeed 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 5–7+ years of experience (or a Master’s Degree with 3–5+ years of experience). 

• Proven expertise in C++ for algorithm development, system design, and high-performance tooling. 

• Experience developing embedded or diagnostics software in the automotive industry. 

• Experience with vehicle communication stacks (e.g.DoIP, Ethernet) and knowledge on sensor connectivity using RS232 and/or GMSL

As a Senior ML Engineer of the team, you are applying machine learning science in a production focused environment. You are using machine learning models in both a unimodal and multimodal context, to create a 3D representation of the road surface and lane geometry. Pseudo-Labeling team's goal is to create high quality annotations on sensor data (images, point clouds). The annotations include 2D, 3D bounding boxes, classes, trajectories, lane lines, segmentations, depths etc. The annotations are then used by different downstream users, for example, perception teams use it to train various models and simulation teams use it for generating new data.

L’objectif de l’équipe de pseudo-étiquetage est de créer des annotations de haute qualité sur les données de capteurs (images, nuages de points). Les annotations comprennent des boîtes englobantes 2D et 3D, des classes, des trajectoires, des lignes de voie, des segmentations, des profondeurs, etc. Les annotations sont ensuite utilisées par différents utilisateurs en aval; par exemple, les équipes de perception les utilisent pour entraîner divers modèles et les équipes de simulation les utilisent pour générer de nouvelles données. 

Ce que vous ferez 

• Conception, mise en œuvre, test et déploiement de modules de détection, suivi et fusion d’objets hors ligne pour créer automatiquement des annotations sur des Services d’infonuagique à partir de données de capteurs enregistrées (Caméras, Lidars, Radars)
• Compétences en gestion de projet démontrées, à titre de chef de projet guidant une équipe dont les membres possèdent peu d’expérience dans plusieurs volets de l’exécution du projet. 
• Restez au fait des derniers développements en matière d’IA et d’apprentissage automatique pour la conduite autonome.

• Évaluer de manière proactive les capacités actuelles pour identifier les domaines à améliorer, en proposant des solutions alignées sur la stratégie et les opérations fondamentales. 
• Mesurer et suivre la qualité de l’étiquetage automatique pour répondre aux exigences de la clientèle interne.
• Guider et produire des produits d’information, en soutenant la visualisation et l’accessibilité des données de manière centrée sur la clientèle. 
• Évaluer et faire des recommandations concernant les avancées techniques qui améliorent la productivité et la qualité, réduisent les délais d’exécution et renforcent la fiabilité opérationnelle. 
• Élaborer des directives et des normes pour les modèles d’analyse et d’apprentissage automatique, leur déploiement et les processus associés.  
• Fournit des conseils techniques ou une expertise en processus métier, un leadership technique, du coaching et du mentorat aux membres de l’équipe.

L’équipe élabore la simulation des capteurs en fonction des modèles de rendu neuronal et génératifs pour le simulateur guidé par les données de Torc. Les données de grande qualité provenant de mises en situation originales viennent combler l’écart des données du domaine, résolvant l’un des plus grands défis pour une conduite autonome sécuritaire.  L’équipe travaille sur des approches à la fine pointe pour le rendu neuronal et la production de données pour les données des capteurs des caméras, lidars et radars. Le tout contribue au flux de données de Torc pour l’entraînement et la validation à travers toute la pile AV.  

Ce que vous ferez :    

• Mettre en œuvre les dernières avancées en matière de recherche pour les modèles de rendu neuronal et génératifs
• Convertir les solutions à la fine pointe de la technologie dans le domaine de la conduite autonome pour les simulations des capteurs des caméras, lidars et radars
• Contribuer à la mise en œuvre d’un cadre de rendu neuronal qui permet la mise à l’échelle de la simulation de perception et de l’entraînement AV 3.0.

Torc’s Data Production team is a core enabler of our AV3.0 strategy. The team builds and operates the high‑scale data pipelines that transform raw multimodal sensor logs into structured, training‑ready datasets for machine learning, simulation, autonomy development, analytics, and system validation. We collaborate across vehicle integration, data collection, data systems, perception, ML, and release engineering to operationalize the full data loop that powers Torc’s autonomous‑driving stack. 

What You’ll Do:   

• Design and develop high‑performance data converters for multi‑sensor autonomous‑driving data (camera, lidar, radar), ensuring accurate time alignment and robust handling of raw sensor logs.
• Design, build, and optimize large‑scale ingestion and transformation pipelines (ETL/ELT) capable of processing petabyte‑scale autonomous‑driving sensor data, and automate them for reliable, production‑grade deployment.
• Work with data formats such as ROS bags, MCAP, and custom binary encodings; establish standards for schema evolution and metadata integrity.
• Implement automated data validation, quality checks, and lineage tracking to ensure reliability of production datasets.
• Collaborate closely with ML, annotation, simulation, and perception teams to ensure cross‑team ownership of data products and deliver datasets that are consistent, semantically correct, and ready for downstream consumption.

Torc is marching towards its AV 3.0 strategy. Simulation and Data Generation are key elements towards autonomous trucking. The team builds the sensor simulation based on Neural Rendering and Generative models for Torc’s data-driven simulator. High-quality data from novel scenarios close the domain data gap, solving one of the biggest challenges for safe autonomous driving.  The team works on state-of-the-art approaches for Neural Rendering and data generation for camera, LiDAR, and Radar sensor data, that contributes to the Torc’s data workflow for training and validation across the complete AV stack.

• Implement the latest research advances in Neural Rendering and generative models 
• Translate cutting edge solution in the domain of autonomous driving for high-quality Camera, LiDAR and Radar sensor simulations 
• Support implementing a neural rendering framework that allows to scale perception simulation and AV 3.0 training 
• Integrate the framework in a cloud environment and automate the pipeline to allow scaling for the target verification and validation of our autonomous trucks  
• Own development projects in the team – From research, design, to implementation, testing and deployment 
• Design, implement, test and deploy shippable production quality software starting from early prototypes using disciplined software development processes.
• Work in the cloud machine learning ecosystem alongside other machine learning services existing in the company.

Pseudo-Labeling team's goal is to create high quality annotations on sensor data (images, point clouds). The annotations include 2D, 3D bounding boxes, classes, trajectories, lane lines, segmentations, depths etc. The annotations are then used by different downstream users, for example, perception teams use it to train various models and simulation teams use it for generating new data. 

What You’ll Do:  

• Design, implement, test and deploy offline object detection, tracking and fusion modules to automatically create annotations on Cloud Services from logged sensor data (Cameras, Lidars, Radars)

  • Distributed machine learning frameworks - PyTorch, Lightning, Ray. 
  • Model Data Curation - Parquet data processing (PyArrow, Daft, Pandas, etc).

Meet The Team:    

Torc is marching towards its AV 3.0 strategy. Simulation and Data Generation are key elements towards autonomous trucking. The team builds the sensor simulation based on Neural Rendering and Generative models for Torc’s data-driven simulator. High-quality data from novel scenarios close the domain data gap, solving one of the biggest challenges for safe autonomous driving.  The team works on state-of-the-art approaches for Neural Rendering and data generation for camera, LiDAR, and Radar sensor data, that contributes to the Torc’s data workflow for training and validation across the complete AV stack.   

What You’ll Do:    

• Implement the latest research advances in Neural Rendering and generative models 
• Translate cutting edge solution in the domain of autonomous driving for high-quality Camera, LiDAR and Radar sensor simulations 
• Support implementing a neural rendering framework that allows to scale perception simulation and AV 3.0 training 
• Integrate the framework in a cloud environment and automate the pipeline to allow scaling for the target verification and validation of our autonomous trucks  
• Own development projects in the team – From research, design, to implementation, testing and deployment 
• Design, implement, test and deploy shippable production quality software starting from early prototypes using disciplined software development processes.
• Work in the cloud machine learning ecosystem alongside other machine learning services existing in the company.
• Proactively assess current capabilities to identify areas for improvement proposing solutions that align with core strategy and operation. 
• Demonstrate project management skills, serving as project lead guiding less experienced team members in multiple facets of project execution, coaching and mentoring as needed.   

What You’ll Need to Succeed:    

• Proficiency in Python and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch. 
• PhD or equivalent work experience of 6+ years in relevant fields (CS, Robotics, Electrical Engineering) with industry experience in shipping production software. 
• Proven expertise in Neural Rendering (Neural Radiance Fields and 3D Gaussian Splatting) and generative models (Diffusion Models, Flow Matching). 
• Background in Computer Graphics, 3D Reconstruction, or 3D Computer Vision. 
• Considered highly skilled and proficient in discipline; conducts complex, important work under minimal supervision and with wide latitude for independent judgment.   
• Experience with VDI and cloud based machine learning development environments.
