The Infrastructure Platform and Shared Services Team
Okta authenticates, authorizes and provisions millions of users a day. The service is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) across multiple availability zones and geographically separated regions. The service is designed for high throughput and 99.999 availability. We're looking for a technical leader to help us continue to scale the service with great people and reliable, cost-effective, and efficient infrastructure, processes, and tooling.
As the Sr. Manager of Infrastructure Platform and Shared Services, you will oversee multiple teams focused on Edge networking, K8s platform, CI/CD, Observability, automation platform & tooling.
What you’ll be doing
- Lead the Infra platform and shared services org and various initiatives across SRE & Infrastructure organization.
- Lead the DevOps transformation, microservice journey, and next generation Infra platform capabilities in partnership with architects and product engineering
- Build a world-class observability platform and monitoring capabilities enabled with self-service
- Accelerate the velocity of SRE and product engineering by developing robust platforms, powerful tooling, and intuitive self-service capabilities.
- Own the design and operation of scalable, self-service Cloud infrastructure platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, service mesh, CI/CD pipelines, IaC & Edge Infrastructure)
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of engineers and managers across platform, infrastructure, and shared services domains.
- Perform engineering design evaluations and ensure the completion of projects within resource, budget, and scheduling constraints.
- Improve SDLC processes for Cloud infrastructure as a code, including the maturity of CI/CD pipelines, change and release management
- Manage service and business expectations and prioritize resource allocation
- Maintain a deep knowledge of industry best practices, evolving trends, and technologies
What you’ll bring to the role
- 6+ years of experience in technical leadership & people management
- Extensive experience using Agile and DevOps methodologies to build product infrastructure and shared service at scale
- 3+ years of experience running large-scale infrastructure platforms supporting a SaaS/Cloud service in a public Cloud, preferably AWS. Experience supporting a multi-Cloud environment will be a plus.
- Strong expertise in cloud-native architectures, containerization (Kubernetes), IaC (Terraform), and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong background and hands-on experience in SW development, PaaS and automation
- Deep experience with building and operating observability platforms and monitoring tools (Grafana, Splunk, APM etc.) in a large scale environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage large-scale programs
- Effective verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
- Computer Science Degree or related degree or equivalent experience

Senior Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE)
Experience Level: Mid–Senior (4+ years PostgreSQL experience)
About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) with deep expertise in PostgreSQL at scale and solid experience with MySQL. In this role, you will design, operationalize, and optimize the data persistence layer that powers our large-scale, mission-critical systems. You will work closely with SRE, Platform, and Engineering teams to ensure performance, reliability, automation, and operational excellence across our database environment.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building resilient data infrastructure, not just administering it.
Responsibilities:
Architecture, Reliability & Performance
- Design, implement, and operate highly available PostgreSQL clusters (physical replication, logical replication, sharding/partitioning, failover automation).
- Optimize query performance, indexing strategies, schema design, and storage engines.
- Perform capacity planning, growth forecasting, and workload modeling.
- Own high-availability strategies including automatic failover, multi-AZ/multi-region setups, and disaster recovery.
Automation & Tooling
- Develop automation for any and all tasks including but not limited to: provisioning, configuration, backups, failovers, vacuum tuning, and schema management using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes Operators, or custom tooling.
- Build monitoring, alerting, and self-healing systems for PostgreSQL and MySQL.
Operations & Incident Response
- Lead response during database incidents—performance regressions, replication lag, deadlocks, bloat issues, storage failures, etc.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and implement permanent fixes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with software engineers to review SQL, optimize schemas, and ensure efficient use of PostgreSQL features.
- Provide guidance on database-related design patterns, migrations, version upgrades, and best practices.
Required Qualifications
- 4 plus years of hands-on PostgreSQL experience in high-volume, distributed, or large-scale production environments.
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL internals (WAL, MVCC, bloat/ vacuum tuning, query planner, indexing, logical replication).
- Production experience with MySQL (InnoDB internals, replication, performance tuning).
- Advanced SQL and strong understanding of schema design and query optimization.
- Experience with Linux systems, networking fundamentals, and systems troubleshooting.
- Experience building automation with Go or Python.
- Production experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, PMM, pg_stat_statements, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with cloud environments (AWS or GCP).
Preferred/Bonus Qualifications
- Experience with PgBouncer, HAProxy, or other connection-pooling/load-balancing layers.
- Exposure to event streaming (Kafka, Debezium) and change data capture.
- Experience supporting 24/7 production environments with on-call rotation.

What you'll need to be successful:
This role requires a unique blend of a software engineer's mindset and operational expertise. You'll thrive in this role if you have:
- A proactive and systematic approach to problem-solving, with a high degree of ownership.
- Proven experience in a production environment supporting large-scale, mission-critical applications with a high degree of autonomy.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language, with a preference for Go. You should be comfortable writing custom applications, not just scripts.
- Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform), container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker) and GitOps (ArgoCD).
- Demonstrable expertise in a major cloud provider (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- A strong grasp of microservices architecture, databases (SQL, NoSQL), and networking fundamentals, so you can understand how custom code can solve platform-level issues.

We are seeking a highly technical Observability Site Reliability Engineer with a specialty in Google Cloud, to own and expand our Observability ecosystem into GCP. In this role, you will move beyond simple monitoring to delivering a world class, comprehensive, scalable Observability Platform that enables our SRE teams and business partners. The Role
We are looking for an experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) who thrives on the challenge of managing large-scale cloud production systems. - Proficiency in at least one programming language, with a strong preference for Go. You should be comfortable writing custom applications, not just scripts.
- Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform), container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker) and GitOps (ArgoCD).
- Demonstrable expertise in a major cloud provider (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- A strong grasp of microservices architecture, databases (SQL, NoSQL), and networking fundamentals, so you can understand how custom code can solve platform-level issues.
- An understanding of core SRE principles, including SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.
- Experience in an on-call rotation for a 24/7 cloud-based environment.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with a proven ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed team, where tasks may be self-driven.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly technical Staff Observability Site Reliability Engineer with a specialty in Splunk to own and evolve our Splunk ecosystem. In this role, you will move beyond simple monitoring to delivering a world class, comprehensive, scalable Observability Platform that enables our SRE teams and business partners. You will treat infrastructure as code—utilizing Terraform and strong coding proficiency in Go, Python, or Ruby—to automate the deployment of agents and collectors across complex distributed systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Automated Infrastructure: Design, build, and maintain scalable observability infrastructure using tools like Terraform.
- Splunk Engineering: Optimize the collection, processing, and storage of log data to ensure high reliability and low latency of our Splunk services
- Incident Response: Participate in on-call rotations and lead post-incident reviews to drive systemic improvements and "observability-driven development."
- Automation: Eliminate "toil" by automating the deployment and scaling of observability agents and collectors.
Required Skills & Experience (The Essentials)
Log Management: Minimum 5+ Experience scaling and managing Splunk Cloud at scale (1000+ SVCs), including Workload Management (WLM) and HEC optimization. Visualization: Expertise in creating intuitive, actionable Splunk dashboards that correlate data across multiple sources.
SRE Mindset: Minimum 5+ years of experience in an SRE, DevOps, or Systems Engineering role with a focus on high-availability systems.
- Programming Proficiency: Strong coding skills in SPL, Go for building internal tools and automating workflows.
- Distributed Systems: Deep understanding of Linux internals, networking (TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancing), and container orchestration (Kubernetes/EKS).
- Problem Solving: A data-driven approach to debugging complex, cross-service performance bottlenecks.
Bonus Skills (The "Nice-to-Haves")
- Telemetry Standards: Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry (OTel), Vector, or similar frameworks for instrumenting applications.
- Charge-back app: Experience in implementing Splunk charge-back app for usage reporting
Cloud Platforms: Experience managing observability native tools within AWS or GCP.
