The Michigan Works Team is made up of dedicated professionals whose role is to develop the local workforce and build a talent pipeline to meet current and future needs of employers in the area. At the same time, we are helping jobseekers in our community find sustainable employment. Customers come to the One Stop with many different skill levels and work with our specialists through coaching, scholarships for classroom training in high demand occupations, and on-the-job training opportunities. We work closely with local businesses to connect jobseekers to multiple types of employment from entry level work to professional careers.
OUR DESIRED OUTCOMES:
Our long-term outcome is to attract individuals to support economic growth and vitality in Southwest Michigan. The Career Development Specialist will assess and evaluate One-Stop customers in alignment with high-demand industries, identify opportunities for skill upgrades or re-training, and enroll qualified job candidates into appropriate training opportunities. These opportunities will result in assisting job candidates to placement in high-demand sectors resulting in higher wage earnings.
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:
The Career Development Specialist is a crucial player within Michigan Works! Team. They are working with a variety of populations seeking employment, including low-income individuals, youth, college students, adults switching careers, single-parents, offenders, long-term unemployed, and ALICE population connecting them to community resources. They ensure the job seeker has a good customer experience while they align key resource for assisting with barriers to employment. The expectation is the Career Development Specialist will strive to dual enroll the job seeker in multiple programs that will help them reach self-sufficiency.

This position will assist in the organization’s pursuit of federal, state, and local grants that supports the work of multiple subsidiaries. The Grant Writer will be challenged to research, synthesize information, write, and assemble competitive proposals to support a family of organizations delivering an array of services including but not limited to workforce solutions, economic development, community development, adult education, secondary education, reentry services, and dropout prevention and recovery programming. The Grant Writer will also work with operations and program staff for effective launch of funded programs.

The Manager of Workforce Operations ensures that program activities, policies, and procedures are implemented as designed and completed according to established timelines. This role requires effective communication with supervisors, peers, and staff, as well as the ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate solutions when needed. The Manager also oversees the operational rhythm of case managers who work directly with individuals seeking workforce services, providing coordination and guidance to staff delivering talent development services.

THE TEAM:
The purpose of the Business Solutions Team is to support the Kinexus Group family of subsidiaries, utilizing a “Team of Teams” approach. The Business Solutions Manager, in coordination with the Director, Business Solutions, assists with overseeing the operations of the Business Solutions department throughout the Berrien, Cass and Van Buren region, ensuring alignment of programs and services to meet the needs of local employers. This administrative management position involves providing guidance and support to staff to ensure efficient and effective coordination of services between economic developers, educators, community partners, employers, and Michigan Works! programs.
Duties include program planning, assignment of staff functions, coordination of service delivery, program reporting and related activities. Responsibilities are carried out directly, and through supervision of assigned staff, with wide latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

The Data Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, maintaining, and supporting program data systems to ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely reporting. This position serves as the primary lead for the GPMS data system, provides support and quality assistance for all Michigan Works related systems (ApprentiScope and OSMIS), and manages the Request for Funding (RFF) tracker. The role works closely with program staff to support data entry, resolve issues, and promote data quality.

This role manages apprenticeship data across the full lifecycle—from enrollment and ongoing case management to completion or exit—while collaborating closely with leadership and Kinexus Group partners. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and analytical, with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to drive data-informed program success.
