Position Overview:

As the Director of Monetization Strategy, you will be the primary architect of Iterable’s economic engine. You aren't just managing a price list; you are defining how we capture value in a rapidly evolving MarTech ecosystem. You will sit at the intersection of Product, Sales, Finance, and Marketing to design and execute pricing and packaging strategies that drive sustainable growth, expand Net Revenue Retention (NRR), and align our success with our customers' success.

Responsibilities:

• • Strategic Vision: Lead the long-term monetization roadmap. You’ll evolve our current models from usage-based pricing toward value-based frameworks that reflect the power of our AI-driven orchestration.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Act as the "connective tissue" between Product (to price new features, and ensure our roadmap is optimized for capturing value), Marketing (to position value), and Sales (to ensure deal velocity).
  • Market Intelligence: Conduct deep-dive competitive analysis and buyer research to identify gaps in our current monetization strategy and capitalize on emerging market trends.
  • Packaging & Tiering: Design and optimize product bundles and editions that simplify the buying process for mid-market and enterprise customers alike.
  • Operational Excellence: Partner with RevOps to implement pricing changes within our systems (CPQ, billing) and develop the discounting frameworks and "guardrails" for the field.
  • Change Management: Lead the internal enablement for global sales teams, ensuring they can confidently articulate the "why" behind our pricing.

Qualifications:

• You have 10+ years of experience in SaaS monetization, management consulting, or strategic finance. You think in systems and understand the downstream impacts of a single pricing lever.
• You have direct experience in SaaS monetization, with a particular focus on monetizing AI
• You are comfortable navigating complex datasets to find the "signal" in the noise. You use data to prove your hypotheses about price elasticity and expansion paths.
• You can distill complex economic theories into simple, persuasive narratives for the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).
• You don't just want a seat at the table; you want to build the table. You enjoy creating processes where none existed.

The US base salary range for this position at the start of employment is $172,000 - $260,000. Your Mission:

This FP&A position is a critical and highly visible role within the Iterable finance team that performs integrated analysis and consolidation to support department and company-wide planning, forecasting and performance reporting processes. Reporting to the VP of FP&A, this role will partner with Research & Development (R&D) to support the company’s strategic objectives while keeping costs predictable. Your goal is to develop a deep understanding of links between our SaaS platform’s technical components and their financial costs to lead short and long-term forecasting of platform investments, technical development costs and partner directly with the CTO and head of product to align financial and development targets.

The successful candidate will specifically demonstrate a strong aptitude for interpreting, analyzing, and communicating complex business issues, and identifying opportunities for improvement. Problem-solving, prioritization, and attention to detail are critical. This position offers multiple opportunities to showcase analytical skills.

The core functions of the role include supporting the annual operating plan, fine tuning live forecast, contingent scenario planning, long-range planning, and month-end reporting processes while ensuring we maintain flexibility and continuously support the strategic objectives of Iterable.

Responsibilities:

• Manage department and company wide financial statement reporting and forecasting including topline revenue metrics, resource allocation, headcount, and OpEx management with a specific focus on and ownership of key R&D functions
• Serve as a finance business partner to the R&D organization and handle departmental headcount, budget, and development and tracking of meaningful critical metrics to measure efficiencies and return on investment analysis
• Partner closely with CFO, VP of FP&A, CTO and VP of Product planning teams on budget planning and maintenance, balancing technical roadmap and budget objectives
• Own the holistic company cost of revenue forecast, partnering with the Engineering FinOps team to link platform performance and optimization with the associated financial impacts
• Support/drive development of Board of Directors presentations, executive dashboards, and KPIs. Create executive review materials that consolidate and communicate financial and operational strategy
• Perform account-level variance analysis that drives business insight and frames financial risks and opportunities; present findings to senior management
• Working to continuously develop and improve existing FP&A processes
• Develop repeatable business, operational and financial processes, partnering closely with the accounting team, to identify key areas of improvement for maximum efficiency
• Perform and support ad-hoc reporting/analysis requests. Support corporate initiatives and reporting

• BS in Accounting/Finance, related field, or equivalent experience
• Prior experience: 4+ years in an FP&A role at a public/pre-IPO SaaS company, public accounting firm, management consulting or investment banking with direct software company experience

How you will make an impact:

• Own the end-to-end user data platform charter: define how user and event data moves from APIs and pipelines into storage, through schema and lifecycle management, and out through query surfaces used by sends, journeys, and AI features—staying focused on core user data infrastructure, not analytics UI or external integrations.
• Make ingestion and identity reliable at scale: evolve ingestion APIs and pipelines with clear SLOs, prioritization, and fair-usage limits, and drive a clear identity model so we can safely move users from anonymous to known without duplicates or data loss.
• Modernize storage, schemas, and guardrails: lead ES8 and user-store roadmaps, retention and cost work, and turn schema management into a first-class product (field removal, usage heatmaps, structural guardrails) so customers can keep only the data that matters.
• Enable Nova and product teams with better data: partner with AI/ML and application teams to define what “AI-ready” means, evolve a centralized query layer with guardrails, and own platform metrics (SLOs, incidents, ES cost, schema health, query coverage) that show the impact of your roadmap.

In this role, you'll get to:

• Work at the heart of Iterable’s data plane—where decisions about ingestion, storage, schema, and queries shape everything built on top of it.
• Make concrete tradeoffs between flexibility and guardrails: when to allow arbitrary payloads vs. when to insist on structure, how much history to keep online, and which queries are too risky to run.
• Partner closely with senior engineering leaders on long-horizon decisions about search/index strategy, user stores, SLOs, and cost posture.
• Spend time with customers’ data and engineering teams to understand how they actually model users and events today—and reflect that reality in a cleaner, more powerful user data platform.

We are looking for people who have:

• 5+ years of product management experience in B2B SaaS, focused on backend, platform, or data infrastructure products.
• Hands-on experience with user and event data systems—for example: ingestion pipelines, identity/alias models, event stores, or large search/document databases (e.g., Elasticsearch).
• Strong instincts around APIs and schemas: you’re comfortable reading JSON payloads, thinking through nesting vs. flattening, and managing breaking changes over time.
• Familiarity with distributed systems and data infra (Kafka/Pulsar, Redis, relational or NoSQL stores, or search engines) and the tradeoffs around performance, reliability, and cost.
• Experience collaborating with AI/ML or data science teams on the data side—feature availability, data quality, semantics—enough to know what really blocks good models and agent behavior.
• Strong analytical skills (including SQL) and a habit of using data to drive prioritization and validate impact.
• Clear, direct communication; you can explain a data or infra decision to both senior engineers and non-technical stakeholders without jargon for its own sake.

• You’ve worked on a core user-data or messaging platform where profiles, events, and identity resolution were central concepts.

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer working on the User Data Infrastructure team, you will:

• Use your Kubernetes and AWS expertise to evolve EKS lifecycle, multi-tenant isolation, and regional consistency, ensuring clusters remain secure, performant, and predictable as we scale.

Qualifications

Experience & Technical Skills

• System Design: Proven track record of architecting and delivering complex, high-scale, distributed systems (e.g., Microservices, Event-Driven Architecture) in a cloud environment (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Technical Depth: Deep expertise in our core technology stack: Scala (Java in lieu), Play, Kafka, Flink,  Pulsar, S3

We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer with a track record of operating Elasticsearch-backed data platforms in multi-tenant SaaS. You’ll be a hands-on IC who both designs distributed systems and acts as a platform “product owner” for app teams: understanding their needs, shaping the platform roadmap, and defining stable interfaces between product and data infrastructure.
