Our team owns the measurement and quality layer that make Glean's Assistant and Agents reliably better over time: evaluation pipelines, quality evalsets, LLM-powered judges, agent observability, and the tooling engineers use to understand what changed and why. It's a rare combination of infrastructure engineering, applied ML, and direct product impact. You will: 

• Design and curate evaluation datasets – sampling strategies, query diversity, and golden sets that give reliable, representative coverage of real assistant behavior.
• Build and maintain large-scale evaluation pipelines that measure assistant quality across thousands of real user queries.
• Build LLM-powered judges that score metrics like correctness, completeness, and response quality, and align them against human judgment.
• Evaluate new models and product changes before they ship – providing the quality signal that gates launches and prevents regressions.
• Build observability infrastructure for AI agents: trace enrichment, data pipelines, and dashboards that make assistant behavior inspectable.
• Close the loop between quality measurement and improvement using eval results, customer feedback, and techniques like automated prompt iteration to help drive concrete gains in assistant behavior.
• Collaborate with engineers across the company to make evals a first-class part of how we ship.

About you:

• 2+ years of software engineering experience with strong coding skills.
• Strong backend fundamentals in Go and Python; comfortable with distributed data pipelines.
• Experience working with LLM evaluation, reinforcement learning from human feedback, natural language processing, or other large systems involving machine learning.
• Analytically rigorous – you think carefully about what offline metrics actually predict about real user experience.

We’re seeking an engineer to work on the  billing and revenue platform that powers Glean’s consumption-based pricing for our AI products. As an engineer, you’ll work on deep technical problems and own critical parts of our billing stack end to end. You’ll work closely with Product, Finance, Data, and Go-To-Market to ensure every AI feature we ship is accurately metered, transparently billed, and margin-positive. At the same time, you’ll help design powerful, elegant abstractions that make it easy and safe for product teams to integrate with billing—from logging usage to surfacing billing insights in the admin console.

You will:

• Work hands-on to design and implement systems for usage metering, pricing logic, credits, and admin-facing billing dashboards.
• Drive the evolution of our consumption / Flex pricing infrastructure in a fast-paced environment, with a high bar for correctness, reliability, and debuggability.
• Partner with Finance, Pricing, RevOps, and Product to translate pricing strategy into robust technical designs and workflows.
• Define and maintain guardrails for LLM and agent costs (e.g., limits, anomaly detection, margin monitoring) so product teams can ship AI features confidently.
• Raise the bar for engineering quality through design reviews and code reviews.

About you:

• 2+ years of industry software engineering experience
• Experience building backend systems and web interfaces, including frontend, APIs, and backend services.
• Strong ability to make tradeoffs explicit, and align cross-functional stakeholders around pragmatic decisions.
• An owner mindset and excitement about being in a product-focused environment where everyone cares deeply about customer and business impact.
• Expertise in Golang, Java, Typescript, SQL is highly desirable.
• Experience with or desire to learn large language models, retrieval augmented generation, agents, and their cost structures is beneficial.

The role provides ample opportunities to work on various aspects of building a modern cloud-native application stack using the latest best practices  - examples of some technical challenges you can work on are building a scalable, reliable distributed system and underlying storage, a unified application framework and data model that makes it easy to index diverse sources of information, end-to-end aspects of security - application layer, platform layer as well as IT security, laser focus on making the experience feel instant, while at the same time balancing the system cost implications, and tooling for comprehensive monitoring and deployment of the system in multiple cloud environments.

• Own impactful infrastructure problems from inception and architecture to production launch
• Write well thought out design documents and robust, high-quality and well-tested code
