About the role and what you'll be doing:
As an Ensono Field CTO, you are a senior, client-facing architect who drives technical innovation, transformation, and long-term value for our largest and most strategic clients.
In this role, you will partner closely with client executives, senior technologists, Sales, Consulting, Product Management, and Service teams to understand business drivers and corporate objectives, then design and lead the execution of complex, multi-year hybrid IT and cloud transformation initiatives.

Role Summary:
In this role you will be joining a team of technical Mainframe Disaster Recovery professionals supporting a large-scale Disaster Recovery drill on z/OS systems platform. This position requires an experienced systems programmer with at least 10 years of experience supporting the z/OS Mainframe Storage environment. Responsibilities include understanding the configuration of Storage Equipment such as Tape and DASD.
Individuals applying for this role must be able to work independently, have excellent problem determination skills, written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
What You Will Do:
Support Disaster Recovery within Mainframe environment
Understand both Tape and DASD Subsystems
Perform Data Recovery for Tape and DASD
Maintain DR Plan and DR Technical Scripts (TRP’s)
Effectively collaborate with cross-functional technical teams, DRaaS Coordinators, clients, and vendors, while regularly updating managers on Drill status.

What You Will Do:
Provide premium DB2 Systems Programmer support and services to Ensono mainframe clients as they relate to Mainframe DB2 systems. The successful candidate will perform mainframe database software upgrades coupled with administration and tuning to support our customers’ DB2 environment. The individual will need to work with vendor personnel to achieve timely solutions of database problems. The individual will be responsible for day-to-day database maintenance such as creating backups, performing restores, monitoring file extent growth, scheduling reorganizations, creating and maintaining DR procedures and overall support of customer needs and requests. The successful candidate will be called upon to perform a variety of database optimizations that will include general reporting and analysis of the efficiency of the database configuration and periodic review of database performance.
Position reports to Sr. Manager, Mainframe Systems Programming.
Key Areas of Focus for this Role
Expertise and work efforts will focus on the development and support and/or the customization of new services and support efforts.
System programming knowledge of multiple DBMS’s is a bonus.
The individual will need to participate in on-call responsibilities.
Fulfill customer service orders (CSOs) for mainframe z/OS customers in a timely manner as they pertain to DB2
Provide primary support for reported problems related to DB2 tables spaces
Provide support on 24 x 7 x 365 basis across multiple time zones.
Provide key support for customer migration services (new customer transitions) as they pertain to DB2 and related OEM software products.
Assist the assigned project manager in the migration of newly acquired customers such that all technical hurdles are addressed in a timely manner and do not impede the expected progress of the transition nor the targeted migration date.
In joint cooperation with the Disaster Recovery Services, successfully execute tasks associated with any given customer’s disaster recovery plans.
Adhere to a schedule that efficiently manages resources and allows timely implementations.

Bachelor’s degree required and/or equivalent work experience.
10+ years of professional experience in DB2 Systems Programming support. Including IDAA. CA and IBM tools for DB2 a plus
Knowledgeable in best practices of software management, maintenance and documentation
SMP/e experience
Experience with configuring and managing DB2 in a parallel Sysplex environment
Ability to develop innovation, strategies, processes and best practices in software management
Experience with establishing policies and procedures pertaining to database management, DR, security, maintenance, and utilization

Ability to evaluate change requests and determine impact to assigned clients and troubleshooting and solving production database issues.
Experience with supporting DB2 security requests
Ability to review DB2 security to find potential risks

Experience with reviewing, tuning of internal DB2 buffer pools and SQL code
Demonstrated ability to respond quickly and effectively to support requests from multiple clients
Supporting multiple customers for after hours on call

Position Summary
The Expert Mainframe Systems Programmer provides support for on-going projects that require the installation, testing, and implementation of new z/OS operating systems and other ‘system’ software. Also, the Maintenance and debugging of systems software. Research and evaluation of new software and hardware products, assisting team members and other areas with technical questions and problem resolution. Monitoring and tuning of systems software. Functional knowledge, use of z/OS components and detailed knowledge of support products such as tape management, scheduling, security, monitoring systems, and other z/OS supporting systems software. Requirements:

The Senior Application Support Specialist (L3) provides advanced, application support and serves as the escalation point for complex issues that cannot be resolved through existing knowledge bases. The Senior Application Support ensures end-to-end reliability, resilience, and performance of critical applications. Apply SRE principles: SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, resilience patterns.
Tune JVM parameters, analyze thread/heap dumps, and improve performance.
Influence application architecture for fault tolerance, scalability, and recoverability.
Validate DR readiness, failover behavior, and resilience testing outcomes.
Change, Release & Risk
Provide technical approval and risk assessment for high-risk changes.
Enforce operational readiness for new apps and major releases.
Ensure changes meet audit, compliance, and regulatory expectations.
Automation, Monitoring & Observability
Build advanced automation using Shell/Python/PowerShell.
Develop frameworks for health validation, automated recovery, and compliance checks.
Define observability standards; optimize alerts and improve MTTR.
Leadership & Mentorship
Mentor L1/L2 teams; review and approve runbooks, SOPs, and KB articles.
Act as a trusted technical advisor to stakeholders and leadership.
Qualifications:
6–7+ years of experience in application support or a related technical support role.
Advanced expertise in troubleshooting enterprise applications.
Strong scripting and programming skills for analysis and automation.
Proficiency with SQL and relational databases for investigative and diagnostic purposes.
Strong working knowledge of Java and/or .NET application architectures.
Experience analyzing application logs, metrics, and event data to build diagnostic patterns.
Demonstrated ability to resolve incidents without predefined procedures or documentation.
Strong problem-solving skills with a structured, analytical approach.
Experience performing deep root cause analysis and contributing to long-term remediation.

Position Summary
The Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer provides support for on-going projects that require the installation, testing, and implementation of new z/OS operating systems and other 'system' software. Position Summary
The Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer provides support for on-going projects that require the installation, testing, and implementation of new operating systems and other 'system' software. Position Summary
The successful candidate will perform mainframe database Software upgrades coupled with administration and tuning to support our customers’ Software AG ADABAS environments. The individual will need to work with vendor personnel to achieve timely solutions of database problems. The individual will be responsible for day-to-day database maintenance such as database definition changes, backups and restores, monitoring space growth, database reorganizations, creating and maintaining disaster recovery procedures and overall support of customer needs and requests. The successful candidate will be called upon to perform a variety of tasks including database optimization, database performance reviews and tuning, and new client onboarding. The individual will provide 24x7 on call support as part of a scheduled rotation with other team members. The individual will maintain documentation for all the tasks completed on a regular basis and adhere the change management policy.

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this role is $80,000 to $148,000 annually based on a full-time schedule. The Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer provides Automation support for multiple clients and on-going projects that could require the development, testing, and implementation of new Automation rules, programs, and other processes. Must be able to work in a multi lpar client environment. Also assist team members and other areas with technical questions and problem resolution. Functional knowledge of z/OS Opsmvs or z/SA Automation or both products and detailed knowledge of rexx programming and Netview.
