The Team

The People Team is responsible for maximising employee value through talent acquisition, employee onboarding, management and experience. They are the force behind driving employee engagement and a strong company culture at Deputy, empowering Deputies to do the best work of their lives in support of shift workplaces.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist to join our team on a 12 month fixed term contract in Sydney.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in full-cycle recruiting, specifically within the SaaS technology space, and will be adept at sourcing, attracting, and hiring top talent. This role requires a strategic thinker who can manage global recruitment across functions (GTM, customer success, engineering, product, G&A, etc.) and collaborate effectively with hiring managers and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

Strategic Talent Acquisition (50%)

Full-Cycle Recruitment: Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including job postings, candidate sourcing, interviewing, and hiring for various roles, with a strong focus across functional expertise (Sales, CS, Engineering, Product, G&A).

Strategic Sourcing: Develop and execute innovative sourcing strategies to attract passive candidates through various channels, including social media, networking events, and industry-specific platforms.

Stakeholder Management: Partner with hiring managers and senior leadership to understand hiring needs and create effective recruitment strategies.

Candidate Experience: Ensure a positive candidate experience throughout the recruitment process by maintaining timely communication and providing an excellent candidate experience.

Market Intelligence: Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities to ensure our recruitment strategies are competitive and effective.

Diversity and Inclusion: Champion diversity and inclusion in the recruitment process to build a diverse workforce.

Talent Acquisition Operations (50%)

TA Ops & Process Optimisation: Develop, refine, and standardise recruiting processes to improve efficiency and consistency. Own and manage TA tools, systems (e.g., ATS, CRM), and reporting dashboards to provide data-driven insights. Streamline workflows, ensuring alignment with HR, People Ops, and hiring teams.Identify and implement automation opportunities to enhance recruiter productivity.

Data & Analytics: Track and analyse key recruiting metrics (time-to-fill, source effectiveness, hiring trends, etc.). Provide insights to business stakeholders to inform hiring strategies. Drive continuous improvement by leveraging data to enhance sourcing and recruiting effectiveness.

Candidate & Hiring Manager Experience: Partner with hiring managers to improve interviewing processes, training, and coordination.Oversee and refine structured interview frameworks to drive consistency and reduce bias.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Act as the primary liaison between TA, HR, and IT for system improvements and integrations. Manage relationships with external vendors (ATS provider, background check partners, etc.). Ensure compliance with recruiting policies, data privacy laws, and employment regulations.

Skills & Experience

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of full-cycle recruiting experience, with at least 1 year in the technology sector. Experience in a high-growth SaaS company is a plus.
Sourcing Skills: Proficiency in using various sourcing tools and techniques, including LinkedIn Recruiter, Boolean searches, and social media platforms.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with candidates and internal stakeholders.
Project Management: Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple requisitions and projects simultaneously.
Data-Driven: Ability to analyze recruitment metrics and data to drive decision-making and improve processes.
Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities.
Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS) and HR software. Experience with Lever is a plus

Role Overview

As a Lead Software Engineer (Platform, Reliability), you will lead the build of key technical projects that keeps Deputy’s production platform reliable, safe and recoverable. In turn, you’ll be progressing our company mission of improving our customers' business productivity, wage compliance and employee satisfaction. You will be a part of the Platform team, looking after the reliability and security aspects of system services and infrastructure.

Working closely with the central Security team and other product & engineering leadership to build foundational and reusable systems, services and architecture.You wake up every morning knowing with confidence that the work you do is being used to power the livelihood of millions of users worldwide.

Responsibilities

Lead the team that builds paved paths to enable other engineering teams to build secure and reliable services.

Make technical decisions and own the roadmap across the domains of platform reliability and infrastructure security - observability platform, incident management, cloud & network security, infrastructure vulnerabilities.

Encourage innovation and continuous improvement across reliability (alert hygiene, MTTR, DORA) and security (vulnerability remediation, hardening coverage) outcomes.

Uphold a high bar of engineering, quality & security standards - including encryption at rest and in transit for production data, and DR/BCP execution across regions.

Collaborate with other parts of the business to discover and estimate solution options to key strategic initiatives.

Accountability for delivering technical solutions within estimated timeframes.

Operate in a get-things-done, value demonstrating, iterative manner.

Influence and problem solve with Sr, Mid and Jr. engineers to deliver high quality outcomes. Your technical leadership and mentorship will be key to driving the squads to successful outcomes.

As a key member of the technical leadership team, contribute to driving standards, ways of working and platform decision making.

Skills & Experience

A skilful engineer with high standards, passion for quality and a few years of experience under your belt. You are a problem solver and are able to tackle highly complex and ambiguous problems, balancing the right tradeoffs in a pragmatic way.

Building Resilient Platform Operations: Proven experience establishing a strong platform operations function from the ground up, including authoring comprehensive incident response playbooks, defining SLOs/SLIs, and driving a culture of reliability across product squads.

Securing Distributed Cloud Architectures: Deep technical expertise in infrastructure security and site reliability for complex, highly isolated environments, specifically demonstrating hands-on experience securing Kubernetes clusters, implementing network policies for cell-based architectures, and translating InfoSec policies and standards into automated infrastructure guardrails.

Experience with SAST & DAST, CI/CD pipelines, and associated security toolings around SDLC (e.g. GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, Snyk, etc).

Experience with building and testing Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Plans in the cloud (AWS) across multiple regions.

Experience with authentication & authorization platforms, CIAM, OAuth2, OpenID, and ensuring high customer security posture.

Proven leadership in driving projects from concept to delivery, working cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and engineering teams to align on vision, requirements, and timelines.

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

6+ years of experience in DevSecOps and 2+ years of experience as a lead/staff engineer.

The Team:

You will be a member of our Delivery Services team, which includes all of the Consultants, Engineers & Architects that deliver tailored workforce management solutions to global brands in hospitality, retail and healthcare. As a Lead Implementation Consultant - Payroll, you’ll leverage your technical background to develop tailored solutions for our enterprise customers. You’ll own the delivery lifecycle for new and existing implementations, developing strong relationships that set our customers up for success. You’ll support the team with local internal initiatives and be given time to innovate and own areas of process improvement.

Responsibilities

Manage the end-to-end delivery and implementation of complex Payroll projects for Deputy’s largest enterprise customers

Act as a trusted advisor to customers by providing best practices, thought leadership and identifying areas of opportunity throughout the payroll implementation process

Mentor and support junior team members on payroll implementation best practices, technical nuances, and customer engagement strategies to build overall team capability and confidence

Validate customer requirements discovered in the sales process through technical workshops and informational sessions with operational stakeholders

Define and communicate project plans with clearly defined timelines and deliverables

Collaborate with Solutions Architects to design custom solutions as needed to fulfil customer requirements

Engage CX Engineers and delivery partners to develop and deliver custom work in line with customer’s requirements and project timelines

Interpret and map customer’s business structure to the Deputy platform, optimising for ease of use and performance

Proactively communicate with internal and external stakeholders regarding status updates, risks, and overall project health

Take a train-the-trainer approach, equipping customer with training sessions and materials to insure continued success

Collaborate with Support and Success teams to document the configuration, custom solutions, and key stakeholders from the account, insuring a smooth transition from Implementation into longer-term support

Qualifications and Requirements

Proven ability to understand, define, and document deliverables, including but not limited to: requirements specifications, gap analysis, use case scenarios, acceptance testing, process maps, and data flow diagrams

Must have strong understanding of and experience with implementation cycles for both internally and externally managed initiatives

Solid history of establishing and meeting work schedules with limited time frames and under tight deadlines

Ability to understand and relate to both technical and non-technical project team members

Experience with enterprise SaaS applications

7+ Years of professional experience in delivery, implementation, or project management with at least 3 of those as a payroll implementation specialist

This is a key hands-on role within our Pay Rates domain, which involves helping shape and build the next generation of bleeding-edge pay interpretation and compliance features to automate complex award and agreement logic, offer exceptional user experiences, and utilise data-driven insights to ensure scalability and efficiency

We’re looking for a Design Technologist to help shape and build our design system with a strong emphasis on AI-native workflows. This role sits within the design function and focuses on translating design into code while enabling AI to meaningfully participate in that process.

The role also explicitly includes designer enablement — creating low-friction workflows, templates and coaching so designers can rapidly prototype and become confident “design-and-build” prototypers. You will define how the design system is structured so it can power AI-driven design-to-code workflows, and ensure designs can be efficiently generated, validated and maintained in code.

Build and maintain production-ready UI components that accurately reflect design intent

AI-Driven Design System Enablement

Shape the design system (tokens, components, patterns) to be machine-readable and AI-friendly
Contribute to workflows that enable design-to-code generation using AI, and ensure components include the metadata AI needs to generate and validate code.
Identify opportunities where AI can reduce manual effort in component creation and maintenance, including using AI to scaffold components, run linting, generate tests and produce documentation.

Embedded Collaboration with Design

Act as a core member of the design team, participating in critiques and explorations
Provide technical perspective during design to ensure outputs are scalable and implementable
Help designers understand how their work can better support AI-driven development

Tooling & Workflow Innovation

Improve integration between design tools (e.g., Figma) and engineering outputs

Skills & Experience

We're looking for a Senior Web Engineer to help shape the digital experience of Deputy.com — the front door to our product for hundreds of thousands of visitors. Working closely with the marketing, design, and content teams, you'll own the technical delivery of a high-performance marketing website that drives acquisition and tells Deputy's story to the world.

This is a hands-on role where you'll build and maintain a modern, component-driven website powered by a headless CMS and deployed to the edge. You'll combine strong fullstack web engineering fundamentals with an eye for performance, SEO, and accessibility — and you'll use AI tools and Agentic development practices as a natural part of your workflow to move faster and deliver better outcomes.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain components and pages using a modern SSR/SSG framework (e.g. Nuxt, Next.js), ensuring high performance, accessibility, and SEO best practices.

Work within a headless CMS architecture (e.g. Storyblok, Contentful) to deliver content-driven pages, collaborating with content editors and marketers on content workflows and component design.

Champion web performance — Core Web Vitals, critical CSS, pre-rendering strategies, image optimisation — to deliver fast, reliable experiences across devices and regions.

Integrate and maintain third-party services, including analytics platforms (e.g. Datadog, GTM, Segment), consent management, and marketing tools.

Write automated tests (unit and end-to-end) and participate in code reviews to uphold a high-quality, maintainable codebase.

Independently drive a fleet of AI Coding Agents as part of your daily workflow — for component development, debugging, code review, content workflows, and performance analysis. You are not expected to hand-write code, and will apply critical judgment to validate and steer AI-generated output.

Work closely with Engineering teams to ensure all development adheres to company-wide software development standards and practices.

Deploy and manage frontend applications on edge platforms (e.g. Cloudflare Pages, Vercel), including working with serverless functions and workers where needed.

Collaborate with designers to translate designs into semantic, accessible markup and contribute back to design system improvements.

Engage in technical discussions, propose improvements, and help foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team.

Skills & Experience

You are a skilled fullstack web engineer with high standards and a passion for quality, backed by 3+ years of related work experience. You care about the details — clean markup, fast load times, accessible interfaces — and you're excited about using AI tools to amplify your work rather than replace your judgment.

You are customer-obsessed, thinking about how every page, component, and interaction impacts the visitor experience and supports the business goals of the marketing team.

You have strong proficiency in Vue.js or a comparable modern JavaScript framework (React, Svelte) with a solid understanding of component-driven architecture.

Experience with SSR/SSG frameworks (e.g. Nuxt, Next.js, SvelteKit) and an understanding of rendering strategies, including static generation, server-side rendering, and hydration.

Deep knowledge of modern HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript — you write semantic, accessible, performant markup as second nature.

Experience with CSS tooling such as PostCSS, SCSS, or CSS-in-JS, including responsive design techniques (fluid typography, custom media queries, flexbox/grid).

Familiarity with headless CMS platforms (e.g. Storyblok, Contentful, Sanity) and content-driven development workflows.

Understanding of SEO fundamentals — structured data, meta tags, Core Web Vitals, and how frontend decisions impact organic performance.

Experience writing automated tests (unit and E2E) using modern testing frameworks (e.g. Vitest, Jest, Cypress, Playwright).

Solid understanding of Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and collaborative development practices.

The Technical Account Manager (TAM) is an associate-level role responsible for delivering consistent, scalable technical success across Deputy’s customer base.
This role combines hands-on customer engagement with operational and programmatic contributions to the TAM function. The Role

As a Lead Enablement Manager, you will possess advanced knowledge in role-specific technical areas and share that expertise to provide guidance and support to peers.
