The Platform Development organization powers Crunchyroll's core access and security platform. This platform includes authentication and authorization, notifications, and AI runtimes. It enables other teams to safely build fan-facing features on top of a stable, compliant, and leverageable foundation.
The team's mission is to provide reliable, secure fan access across devices and partners, integrate access services with data and compliance orchestration, and evolve notifications and AI inference into reusable platform capabilities that accelerate product and partner launches. We collaborate with product, data, security, client engineering, video, and service monetization teams to deliver seamless and secure experiences for millions of anime fans worldwide.
As the Senior Manager, Platform Development, you will report to the VP of Platform Engineering. You will lead a team of software engineers building and operating the core services that govern how fans access Crunchyroll. These services include login, identity, authorization, partner authentication, compliance-aware account flows, notifications, and AI runtimes.
You will own the team's strategy and execution, guiding the decomposition of legacy authentication and IAM into clearer, safer platform services, stabilizing and evolving our notification stack toward a unified orchestration layer, and working with our data team to layer the foundations of a shared AI inference platform. You will lean on your engineering and leadership experience to raise the bar on architecture, reliability, security, and delivery, while hiring and developing a high-performing, inclusive team aligned to Crunchyroll's values.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager, Apple Core to lead the development and maintenance of the shared systems, tools, and pipelines that power our iOS, tvOS, and visionOS applications. This role is pivotal in driving the technical vision, roadmap, and operational excellence of our Apple platform infrastructure. You will lead an accomplished group of engineers focused on scalability, reliability, performance, and developer efficiency — enabling our feature teams to deliver best-in-class experiences to millions of users.

The Service Monetization team is responsible for building, maintaining, and securing systems that manage subscriptions for millions of Crunchyroll fans, generate bills and collect payments for Crunchyroll users around the world. We are directly tied to many streams of revenue and pride ourselves on quality code, service reliability, and teamwork. Our day to day work includes building features for robust subscription management, customer incentives, integration with a variety of payment providers, fraud detection, and maintaining compliance of our systems. Our services enable millions of subscriptions and process millions of payments in a highly secure, distributed, and scalable environment that is constantly evolving to meet the needs of both our fans and our business!

The Mobile Monetization team builds and maintains the subscription, payments, and promotional offer experiences across Crunchyroll's iOS and Android applications. As Principal Product Manager for Search & Content Understanding, you will define how Crunchyroll connects fans to the anime they love—and helps them discover new stories—through fast, relevant, and data-driven discovery systems. At Crunchyroll, our Cloud Reliability team within the Infrastructure Engineering team forms the foundation on which our services are built and directly influence our customer experience and the velocity of our engineers. Our team focus is to ensure that our developers are enabled, self-service, that everything about our infrastructure is automated and that our services are highly reliable and scalable. Cloud Reliability team members will engage directly with development teams on helping them become empowered and effective at delivering on our Infrastructure.
As a Staff DevOps Engineer within the Infrastructure Engineering team, you are essential in automating and scaling the systems and services that power our streaming platform. You will work with our DevOps team, delivery teams and lead projects related to infrastructure automation, scaling, CICD, driving them forward to completion and ensuring that the platform processes, automation and best practices are being followed. In collaboration with other engineers, you develop tools and systems that support services and facilitate high-quality software delivery and architecture / infrastructure. You are expected to be highly collaborative working across teams to understand the needs, establish best practices and automate them whenever possible. You will also play a key role in partnering with our development teams and understanding their needs and assisting them in their journey.

We are hiring an Applied Scientist to help advance personalization across the Crunchyroll ecosystem. In this role, you will lead the scientific development of recommendation, ranking, and decisioning solutions that improve how fans discover and engage with anime series/movies, manga, merchandise, games, and other areas in the anime fandom. You will partner closely with Machine Learning Engineers, Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Content stakeholders to make Crunchyroll the ultimate destination for anime experience.
In the role of Senior Applied Scientist for Recommendation and Personalization, you will report to the Director of Data Science and Machine Learning in our Center for Data and Insights. You will own the research and applied science agenda for personalization, from problem framing and data exploration through model development, evaluation, experimentation, and iteration. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining strong scientific rigor with product thinking to improve user discovery, engagement, retention, and long-term fan value.
You will work across multiple user touchpoints, including app and web interfaces, lifecycle and promotional email campaigns, and flywheels that connect video, ecommerce, manga, and adjacent experiences. You will help define what great personalization looks like at Crunchyroll, build the evidence to prove impact, and collaborate with engineering partners to ensure the resulting solutions can be productionized effectively.
This position is based in our Los Angeles office, but we will consider our San Francisco office as a secondary location. We work a hybrid schedule, in-office three days a week: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Experience: You bring 5+ years of experience in applied machine learning, recommendation systems, search/ranking, experimentation, or a closely related area, with a track record of driving measurable product impact.
Scientific Depth: You have strong foundations in machine learning, statistics, experimental design, and causal thinking, and you know how to choose the right level of modeling complexity for the problem at hand.
Recommendation Expertise: You have hands-on experience with at least some of the following: collaborative filtering, retrieval and ranking systems, representation learning, sequence / generative models, bandits, graph methods, or personalization for consumer products.
Technical Skills: You are highly proficient in Python and comfortable working with common ML libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, XGBoost, or similar tooling. Experience working with SQL, distributed data processing, and cloud-based ML workflows is strongly preferred.
Experimentation Mindset: You know how to design offline and online evaluations, reason carefully about metrics, and connect experimental findings to user and business outcomes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: You have experience partnering effectively with engineers, product managers, analysts, marketers, and business stakeholders to move from idea to execution.
Communication Skills: You can explain sophisticated modeling decisions and ambiguous findings in a clear, decision-oriented way to diverse audiences.
Educational Background: You hold an MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, or a related quantitative discipline, or you bring equivalent applied industry experience.

Today, the team includes engineers focused on operationalizing our recommendation platform with strong engineering excellence. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our LRX Core team, focused on building the shared architecture and foundational layers that power Crunchyroll experiences across Smart TVs, Game Consoles, and other connected devices.

As Principal Product Manager for Search & Content Understanding, you will define how Crunchyroll connects fans to the anime they love—and helps them discover new stories—through fast, relevant, and data-driven discovery systems. You'll lead initiatives that combine search relevance, metadata enrichment, and content relationships to make discovery more meaningful, efficient, and personalized across our global platforms.
You will partner closely with machine learning engineers, data scientists, and design teams to shape the discovery strategy, guide the roadmap, and build scalable systems that enhance engagement across the Crunchyroll ecosystem. Beyond optimizing search, you'll evolve our content intelligence layer—integrating knowledge graphs, third-party and ML-generated metadata, and relational modeling across our catalog to fuel the future of curation, personalization, and discovery.
In the role of Principal Product Manager, you will report to the SVP Product - Core Services. This is a hybrid role (in office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays) based in either Dallas or Los Angeles.
