The Director of Growth owns the self-serve revenue engine end-to-end — from top-of-funnel acquisition strategy through product-led growth, activation, and expansion — and operates with cross-functional authority across Product, Engineering, Marketing Ops, and our paid acquisition agency. This is not a funnel repair job or a lifecycle marketing role. It’s a growth leadership role for someone who thinks first about where new users come from, and second about everything else.
This is a specific hire for a specific kind of company. We’re not looking for a generalist demand gen leader or a lifecycle marketer. We need someone who has been here before — at a developer-centric infrastructure company, building growth motion from a strong foundation into something structurally durable.
|
Dimension |
What We’re Looking For |
|
Company background |
Developer tools, cloud infrastructure, or IaaS. Your customer was technical. |
|
PLG ownership |
You’ve built a PLG motion. You’ve designed product qualification logic, activation funnels, and self-serve to sales-led handoffs. |
|
Acquisition instinct |
When you see flat signups, your first question is “where’s the traffic problem,” not “what email can we send.” |
|
Product sense |
You can write a credible brief, push back on deprioritized engineering tickets, and build a business case for product investment without a PM. |
|
Developer channels |
You understand Reddit, Hacker News, dev communities, technical content, GitHub presence, and DevRel-adjacent programs — not just as awareness plays, but as acquisition channels. |
|
Data fluency |
You own numbers directly. You’re comfortable presenting signups, activation rates, and conversion alongside the strategy driving them. |
|
Influence without authority |
You drive cross-functional action — engineering prioritization, agency direction, partner alignment — through partnership and persuasion, not org chart. |

But while there is a lot to celebrate in our past, there is almost as much opportunity ahead of us. We are hiring a Sr. Software Engineer to join our Front End Engineering team. This team builds the core customer facing web applications and services that power how customers model, manage, and secure organizations in Backblaze. That includes identity and access foundations, cloud storage resource management, and UI/service implementations integrated with a modern role-based access control system management that governs access to resources at scale.
About the Role
In this role, you will design and build highly available and modern web applications and services in our TypeScript and React ecosystem. You will work and integrate with systems that sit at the center of customer administration, authorization, and resource orchestration, with design challenges shaped by ideas found in platforms such as AWS IAM, GCP IAM, and Azure RBAC.
This is a strong fit for an engineer who enjoys building modern and scalable production web applications and services, can reason rigorously about security and correctness, and is comfortable owning the full lifecycle (design, implementation, rollout, and operation) of an application integrated with distributed systems. We also value engineers who use modern AI tools effectively to accelerate development, improve design quality, and strengthen security and maintainability.

About Backblaze
Backblaze provides reliable, high-availability cloud storage trusted by consumers, SMBs, enterprises, and developers in over 150 countries. Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage supports data-intensive workloads including backup, media, analytics, and modern AI pipelines. Our teams focus on building secure, durable, scalable systems with a strong emphasis on application security from day one and protecting customers to keep them safe.
But while there is a lot to celebrate in our past, there is almost as much opportunity ahead of us. We are hiring a Sr. Software Engineer to join our Organization Services team. This team builds the core backend services that power how customers model, manage, and secure organizations in Backblaze. That includes organization and account lifecycle management, identity and access foundations, and a modern role-based access control system that governs access to resources at scale.
About the Role
In this role, you will design and build highly available backend services and APIs in our Kotlin/Java ecosystem and will work on front-end applications written in React and Typescript. You will work on systems that sit at the center of customer administration, authorization, and resource orchestration, with design challenges shaped by ideas found in platforms such as AWS IAM, GCP IAM, and Azure RBAC.
This is a strong fit for an engineer who enjoys building foundational platform capabilities, can reason rigorously about security and correctness, and is comfortable owning complex systems through design, implementation, rollout, and operation. We also value engineers who use modern AI tools effectively to accelerate development, improve design quality, and strengthen security and maintainability.

About The Role
The Startup Ecosystem Associate is the operational engine behind the Backblaze Flamethrower Startup Program. This is a high-ownership role for someone early in their career who wants to learn the full arc of ecosystem building — from running the day-to-day mechanics of a startup program to eventually sitting across the table from a Series A founder or a VC partner. You will work closely with and directly support the Director of Startup & Developer Relations, who is the external face of the program. That means a lot of your early work happens behind the scenes: keeping the program running cleanly, processing applications thoughtfully, managing credit workflows, and making sure every founder who comes through has a good experience.
This is not a role for someone looking to attend conferences and collect business cards. It’s a role for someone who is comfortable getting into the trenches, takes pride in operational excellence, and understands that the credibility to work with VCs and founders gets earned through execution — not assumed. If you’re the kind of person who wants to be running a program like this yourself in a few years, this is a strong path to get there.

About The Role
This is a ground-floor developer relations role at a company that is serious about building a DevRel function — not just checking a box. You’ll be the technical voice of Backblaze: creating content, showing up at events, and helping developers understand how to build with Backblaze B2 in the workloads they’re actually running — AI pipelines, media workflows, and data-intensive infrastructure.
You’ll work directly with our Director of Startup & Developer Relations and alongside the Flamethrower Startup Program — Backblaze’s initiative to become the storage layer of choice for early-stage companies. You’ll have support from our product, content, documentation and other teams, as well as consulting budget for structural and strategic scaffolding as we build this out. Your job is to be technically credible, well-connected, and visible.
The right person for this role has been doing this work informally — writing technical content, showing up at conferences, building a following in developer communities — and is ready to make it the job. Or they’ve been doing it formally at the mid-level and want to step up on impact without stepping into program leadership yet.

About Backblaze
Backblaze is the object storage leader in the open cloud movement, fueling customer success with cloud storage built purposefully to unlock budgets, unburden administrators, and unleash innovators. Together with our partners, we’re helping customers break free from the restrictive, overpriced legacy solutions that hold them back, and blaze forward with the full power of the open cloud in their hands.
Founded in 2007, we scaled the business with less than $3 million in outside funding until 2021, when we did a traditional IPO on the Nasdaq stock exchange. But while there is a lot to celebrate in our past, there is almost as much opportunity ahead of us. We’re seeking a GTM Engineer Associate to join our team!
About the Role:
We are looking for a GTM Engineer Associate to bridge the gap between our high-level marketing strategy and technical execution. Your primary mission is to fuel growth by designing and executing the technical infrastructure for campaigns that drive awareness and pipeline.
You won’t just follow a process; you will build and optimize integrated, multi-channel programs that leverage automation and AI to reach the right audiences at the perfect time. You are the "technical architect" who takes a creative campaign idea and engineers the delivery system that makes it perform at 10x scale.
The Right Fit:
Why this role is the "Force Multiplier"
This role is specifically designed for a builder who views a spreadsheet as a database and a campaign as a sequence of logic. While you will collaborate with creative teams to ensure brand alignment, your primary value is in the plumbing and the engine that makes those creative ideas perform at scale. You don't just send emails; you engineer the future of how we go to market.
