Woodard & Curran is seeking a full-time Water Treatment Operator to join our team at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) in Durham, NH. This opportunity is ideal for both individuals looking to begin a rewarding career in the water industry and experienced operators who already hold a water treatment license and want to continue advancing their careers.

Our Operators play a critical role in the operation and maintenance of the facility's treatment processes and equipment. The position combines technical and hands-on responsibilities, including collecting and analyzing water quality samples, operating and monitoring treatment systems, maintaining equipment, entering operational data, and performing general facility and grounds maintenance.

 

No two days are exactly alike. You'll develop valuable technical skills, solve real-world challenges, and contribute to providing reliable water service to the University community. In this role, you will:
 

  • Monitor the water treatment plant and remote water system infrastructure processes and equipment both manually and via SCADA automation, making adjustments as necessary to control their operation.
  • Perform water quality sampling, testing, and analysis to determine compliance with federal, state, and EPA standards.
  • Monitor remote pumping facilities with inspections and daily sampling as required.
  • Operate, maintain, control, and perform routine repair of plant equipment, including preventive maintenance duties. Establish, maintain and control flow through the water treatment process and into and within the distribution system.
  • Utilize asset management software programs for maintenance work orders and maintain all necessary records.
  • Perform general maintenance duties of plant, remote pumping stations and POU treatment locations and other assigned duties.

 

 

Schedule:

 

Employees work a rotating schedule designed to maximize your time off. One week consists of four consecutive workdays (Monday through Thursday) followed by a three-day weekend. The next week includes a day off midweek, and then weekend coverage (Friday through Sunday). This rotation results in a three-day weekend every other week and a scheduled weekday off when working weekend shifts.

 

This position also includes rotating 'on-call' responsibilities to cover after-hour emergencies or alarms, and comes with an additional $200 stipend.

 

Pay Range: $26 - $32 an hour, Depending on qualifications and experience.

 
 

 What will you need to succeed?

 

  • High School Degree or Equivalent.
  • New Hampshire water treatment license preferred, or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in process control and follow instructions, as well as following safety procedures.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
